Padres Don't Have Plans to Trade Robert Suarez
Robert Suarez at Thursday's deadline, even after just acquiring right-handed closer Mason Miller from the Athletics in a blockbuster deal on Thursday morning, according to USA TODAY Sports' Bob Nightengale. With both Miller and Suarez, the Padres will have the best bullpen in baseball. Additionally, Nightengale writes that the Friars could hang onto right-hander Dylan Cease despite landing left-hander JP Sears in the deal with Miller. The Padres are once again all-in. Suarez leads baseball with 30 saves but is coming off his fourth blown save of the year on Monday against the Mets. The 34-year-old hard-throwing righty also has a 3.43 ERA (2.51 FIP) and 1.01 WHIP in his 44 2/3 innings. If the Padres don't trade Suarez, he could end up being demoted to a setup role in front of Miller, which would kill a lot of his fantasy value the rest of 2025.
