Dolphins Work Out Kicker Eddy Pineiro
Eddy Pineiro on Tuesday, a source tells Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. The Dolphins are looking for a new kicker to begin the 2025 regular season after they announced on Monday that Jason Sanders (hip) will be out for the the next four to five week with a hip injury. The 29-year-old Pineiro has been solid in his five NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, making 88.1 percent of his 126 field-goal attempts, including going 11-for-14 from 50-plus yards out. He spent the last three years in Carolina, going 80-for-90 on field-goal tries and 80-for-87 on his extra points in 49 games. Pineiro has been productive the last three seasons, but if he signs with Miami and opens the year as their starting kicker, he'll be a deep-league kicking streamer, at best.

Andy Borregales Named Patriots Starting Kicker
Andy Borregales their starting kicker for 2025 after releasing Parker Romo on Tuesday. A sixth-round draft pick, Borregales arrives from Miami (FL), where he built a strong collegiate résumé by converting 74 of 86 field goals, including an impressive 18-for-19 mark in 2024. While he showed some inconsistency during the preseason, the Patriots are committing to him as their long-term option at the position. New England will be counting on Borregales' leg to stabilize special teams and provide reliability in tight games throughout the season.

Panthers Cut Kicker Matthew Wright
Matthew Wright has been released, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. As a result, rookie Ryan Fitzgerald has won the kicking job. Wright failed to convert his only field goal attempt of the season, missing wide from 55 yards out. No stranger to being an NFL journeyman, Wright played for six organizations over five seasons, including three teams in 2024. He made 15 of his 16 field goal attempts last year. Now, he will proceed to search for a kicking job elsewhere, perhaps adding another team to his resume.

Ryan Fitzgerald Wins Panthers Kicking Job
Ryan Fitzgerald has won the kicking job after the team released Matthew Wright, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. The undrafted rookie out of Florida State went 3-for-3 on field goals and also converted his lone extra point attempt through three preseason games. He enjoyed similar success at school, going 13-for-13 on field goals during his final collegiate campaign in 2024. Although the Panthers' offense is trending up, Fitzgerald lacks fantasy appeal at the moment, especially as a rookie with no track record kicking at the professional level.

Jason Sanders Expected to Miss 4-5 Weeks With Hip Injury
Jason Sanders (hip) is expected to miss the first four to five weeks of the season due to a hip injury, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Dolphins will now look for a new kicker for the start of the 2025 season. It's unknown at this time if Sanders will be placed on short-term Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss at least the first four games of the season. The 29-year-old will not need surgery and will be able to return at some point this year. With the news of Sanders' multi-week injury, fantasy managers can now safely remove him from their draft boards in 2025. In a Dolphins offense that took a step back last year, Sanders actually finished as the No. 8 fantasy kicker by making 37 of his 41 field-goal attempts while also converting on 26 of his 28 extra-point opportunities in 17 regular-season starts.

Younghoe Koo Makes Two Field Goals in Final Tuneup
Younghoe Koo converted two of his three field goal attempts in Friday's 31-13 preseason loss to the Cowboys, making from 28 and 38 yards away while missing from 51 yards out. The 31-year-old also converted his lone extra point attempt. After Lenny Krieg handled kicking duties in the team's first preseason game, Koo has taken over in the last two and appears to be in line to be named the Falcons' starter for Week 1 of the 2025 season. The eighth-year pro had a down year in 2024, but also battled through a hip injury that ultimately cut his season short. Now fully healthy, fantasy managers should have confidence in him, however, there are higher upside options available in 12-team leagues.

Ryan Fitzgerald Battling to Start in Carolina
Ryan Fitzgerald is making a strong case for the Carolina Panthers' starting kicker job. He accounted for the team's only points with an impressive 52-yard field goal in Saturdays’s 20-3 preseason loss to the Houston Texans. Fitzgerald signed with the Panthers as an unrestricted free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft, but some analysts had him pegged as the top kicker in his class. His college stats at Florida State back up the hype. He was nearly perfect in his final two seasons, hitting 90.5% of his field goals as a junior and a flawless 100% as a senior. Fitzgerald is currently battling four-year veteran Matthew Wright, who is listed first on the depth chart. Wright will have to hold off the rookie's momentum. If Fitzgerald continues to perform well this preseason, the Panthers will have a difficult decision.

Tyler Loop Officially Named the Starting Kicker in Baltimore
Tyler Loop the team's starting kicker after he nailed five field goals in preseason action against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night. Loop has been the only kicker on the roster since the Ravens released John Hoyland earlier this month, but Harbaugh's statement indicates that Baltimore does not plan to bring in another veteran. A sixth-round pick out of Arizona, Loop made 83.8% of his field goals and 98.4% of his extra-point attempts in 50 career college games. He's made six out of his eight preseason field goal attempts so far.

Jake Moody Nails 59-Yard Field Goal For Win
Jake Moody was responsible for nearly all of the 49ers' points in their 22-19 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday. Moody tacked on the extra point for Jeff Wilson Jr.'s touchdown in the second quarter and was 5-for-6 on field goal attempts. The lone miss was from 53 yards out, but the 25-year-old hit from 26, 30, 44, and 50 yards away before capping his day off with a 59-yarder as time expired to put San Francisco over the top. The performance was encouraging, though fantasy managers still don't need to go out of their way to select him in drafts. Last season, Moody was 10-for-20 on kicks beyond 40 yards, and since joining the league in 2023, his 76.3% conversion rate ranks last among kickers with at least 30 field goal attempts in that time. Moody gets one last tune-up before the regular season when the 49ers host the Chargers on August 23.

Younghoe Koo Converts Two Field Goals, Two Extra Points on Friday
Younghoe Koo was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and 2-for-2 on extra points in Friday's 23-20 loss to the Titans. The 31-year-old hit from 39 and 42 yards out, but is coming off a rough 2024 in which he converted just 74 percent of his field goal attempts before missing the final three games of 2024 with a hip injury. Lenny Krieg handled kicking duties in the team's first preseason matchup and is presumably in the mix to compete for the starting job. Krieg hit from 57 yards and missed from 53 in that first game while converting his lone extra point. Regardless of who wins the job, after Koo's struggles and the Falcons' murky offensive outlook, there are better options to choose from at kicker in 12-team fantasy leagues.

Bills Hope Tyler Bass Can Kick Next Week
Tyler Bass (pelvis) is "moving in the right direction," and the team is trying to be smart with him so he doesn't suffer a setback. The goal is for Bass to kick in the third preseason game next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Maddy Glab of BuffaloBills.com reports that Bass will be limited in Friday's training camp practice. The Bills will hold the 28-year-old out of the second preseason game on Sunday against the Chicago Bears as a precaution. Barring a setback, it sounds like he'll be good to go for the Week 1 regular-season opener, where he'll be in play as a low-end starting fantasy kicker in 12-team leagues. Bass has made exactly 24 of his 29 field-goal attempts in each of the last two years in Buffalo. He's been steady but just hasn't had enough chances to make him a high-end fantasy option at his position.

Kicker Competition in Carolina Remains Open
Matthew Wright and Ryan Fitzgerald, according to Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer. The 29-year-old Wright has played for six NFL teams across five seasons, with his longest run being a 14-game stretch for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. He's made 87.3% of his 63 career field goal attempts with a long of 59 yards. Fitzgerald is an undrafted rookie out of Florida State who made all 13 of his field goal attempts in his final collegiate season. Both kickers will get their next chance to separate themselves in Carolina's second preseason game on Saturday against the Houston Texans.

Tyler Bass Sitting in Preseason Opener
Tyler Bass (pelvis) will not play in the team's preseason opener on Saturday against the New York Giants due to pelvic soreness, according to The Buffalo News' Jay Skurski. Bass has been dealing with a pelvic injury during training camp and is not ready to kick in a game yet. As a result, the Bills signed Caden Davis on Friday so that he can handle kicking duties on Saturday. The 28-year-old Bass has plenty of time to get ready for the start of the 2025 regular season, and there's no reason to believe that he won't be ready by early September. For fantasy purposes, Bass will be a low-end starting option at the position in 12-team leagues. The former sixth-round pick (188th overall) in 2020 out of Georgia Southern has an 84.5% success rate on his field goals and 96.4% success rate on extra points in his five NFL seasons in Buffalo.

Daniel Carlson's Big Leg on Display Despite Mixed Results
Daniel Carlson went 3-for-5 on field goals in Thursday's 23-23 tie with the Seahawks. The veteran connected from 27, 51, and 56 yards, but missed a 55-yarder before halftime and had another from the same distance blocked on the game's final play. Despite the inconsistency, Carlson's powerful leg remains a key asset. With the Raiders' offense expected to improve under new leadership, his scoring opportunities should increase. Fantasy managers should remain confident, Carlson is still a strong candidate to finish as a top-10 kicker in 2025.

Tyler Bass Still Not Practicing
Tyler Bass (pelvis) missed another training camp practice on Thursday. Bass continues to deal with a pelvis injury and is probably unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the New York Giants. As a result, the Bills worked out two kickers at camp on Wednesday and will probably sign one as insurance for Bass. The 28-year-old is a borderline fantasy starter in 12-team leagues when healthy, and he shouldn't be in danger of losing his starting job as long as he'll be ready for the Week 1 regular-season opener in early September. The former sixth-round pick in 2020 out of Georgia Southern has been Buffalo's starting kicker in all five of his NFL seasons and has made 84.5% of his 155 field-goal tries while making 96.4% of his extra points. Bass still has a few weeks to get ready for the regular season.
