Sunday Fantasy Football Lineup Decisions

The start of Week 4 is just a few hours away. That means it’s time to start crunching the numbers and get those fantasy football lineups set. If you’re sitting 3-0 or 2-1, you enter Week 4 in a very good spot. If your team is 1-2 or, even 0-3, the season is not over, but you’re going to need to start stacking some wins as the fantasy playoffs will be here before you know it. That begins with closely analyzing each start/sit decision your team faces.

Many fantasy managers are facing tough lineup decisions due to several underperforming stars. We’ll do our best to help you navigate those issues this week and figure out which players should remain in lineups and which ones should hit the bench.

Make sure you’re following RotoBaller on X and download the RotoBaller app for all your fantasy football needs. Let’s get into our start ‘em and sit ‘em picks for Week 4.

QB Starts - Week 4 Fantasy Football

Caleb Williams - QB, Chicago Bears at Las Vegas Raiders

Williams is coming off his best game as a professional. He threw for 298 passing yards and four touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3. Williams would finish the week as the overall QB1.

Chicago takes on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4, and it’s a great opportunity for Williams to post another strong outing. Las Vegas currently ranks 26th in FTN Fantasy’s defensive DVOA and has allowed the ninth most passing yards per game.

We could see both these offenses light up the scoreboard here, and that would mean plenty of opportunities for Williams to carve up the Raiders' secondary. Gamers can confidently start him as a solid QB1 play this week.

Brock Purdy - QB, San Francisco 49ers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Purdy makes his return today following a two-week absence recovering from toe and shoulder injuries. It comes at a good time as injuries are piling up for San Francisco.

The 49ers will face a Jaguars defense that's allowed the 10th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year, per Fantasy Football Today. The 49ers’ offense is a bit banged up. However, it looks like receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings will both play, and Demarcus Robinson will make his debut for the team following a three-game suspension.

With the 49ers losing star pass rusher Nick Bosa for the year due to an ACL injury, this game could morph into a shootout between two high-powered offenses. Consider Purdy a backend QB1/high-end QB2 for Week 4.

Jordan Love - QB, Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys

Love and the Packers' offense let fantasy managers down last week against the Cleveland Browns. He has a great opportunity to bounce back today as Green Bay travels to Dallas to square off against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

Dallas has been one of the worst defenses in the league through three weeks, and it has really struggled defending opposing passing games. The Cowboys rank 32nd in defensive passing DVOA and have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Dallas has also allowed seven touchdown passes, and that is tied for second-worst in the league.

This is a perfect spot for Love to explode following a poor game in Week 3. Gamers can fire up Love as a solid streaming option in single quarterback leagues and as a high-ceiling QB2 in superflex and two quarterback leagues.

QB Sits - Week 4 Fantasy Football

Jaxson Dart - QB, New York Giants vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Giants have sent Russell Wilson to the bench in favor of Dart. It’s a curious decision to throw Dart into the deep end of the pool against the Chargers' defense, but I suppose this is the sort of decision-making we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from the New York Giants.

Los Angeles ranks fifth in defensive passing DVOA and has only allowed two passing touchdowns through the first three games. Dart does offer some upside as a rusher, and the Chargers have been vulnerable on the ground to opposing quarterbacks. Short of that, it’s hard to see a path to a big fantasy day for Dart when playing behind PFF’s 21st-highest graded pass-blocking offensive line.

Expect the Chargers' defense to throw the kitchen sink at Dart and force the rookie to constantly flee the pocket and make several poor decisions in the process. Thanks to his rushing upside, there will be plenty of chances to throw Dart into lineups later in the year. This week is not one of them.

Dak Prescott - QB, Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers

Prescott will be missing star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in this game. Dallas will also be missing starting guard Tyler Booker due to a high-ankle sprain. These injuries come at a bad time for Prescott as the Packers' defense is among the best in the league.

Green Bay ranks first in defensive passing DVOA, third in PFF pass rush grade, and has allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year. Prescott and the Cowboys' passing offense completely shut down last week following Lamb’s injury, and that was against the hapless Chicago Bears defense. With Dallas down a starting offensive lineman and its WR1, things could get ugly against the Green Bay defense.

This is just a bad matchup, and there are several factors working against Prescott, too. Leave him on your bench.

Aaron Rodgers - QB, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Rodgers got off to a hot start by throwing four touchdown passes against the New York Jets in Week 1. Since that game, though, Rodgers has thrown three touchdown passes against three interceptions and hasn’t eclipsed 203 passing yards in a game.

Week 4 doesn’t look like the spot where Rodgers turns things around. The Minnesota Vikings rank ninth in PFF’s pass coverage grade and second in defensive passing DVOA. Rodgers tossed three interceptions and was sacked three times going against Brian Flores’ hyper-aggressive defense last year. With the Pittsburgh offensive line still looking like a work in progress, we could see Rodgers post another dud performance. There are better streaming options available.

RB Starts - Week 4 Fantasy Football

Omarion Hampton - RB, Los Angeles Chargers at New York Giants

With veteran Najee Harris set to miss the remainder of the season due to an unfortunate Achilles injury, Hampton is set to take over lead back duties.

This is a great matchup for the Chargers’ rookie to have his best game to date. The Giants allow 153.3 rushing yards per game (second-worst in the league) and have allowed the 11th-most explosive rushing yards (runs of 15+ yards) in the league per Fantasy Points Data Suite.

With Los Angeles being 6.5-point favorites in this game, expect to see Hampton’s number called early and often. He could pop for a huge game here.

If you were beginning to waver on Hampton, don’t. He’s a talented player in a smash matchup this week. Start him in all formats.

Ashton Jeanty - RB, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Chicago Bears

Look, Jeanty’s start to his NFL career has been downright awful. He is only averaging 3.1 yards per carry and hasn’t eclipsed 63 rushing yards in any game this year.

As bad as he’s been, much of the blame should be placed on the atrocious play of the Raiders' offensive line. Jeanty has consistently been hit at or behind the line of scrimmage numerous times this year. It would be hard-pressed for any running back to produce in these kinds of circumstances.

Luckily, Las Vegas faces a Chicago Bears run defense that has been among the worst in the league. Chicago currently ranks 26th in defensive rushing DVOA, allows 139 rushing yards per game, and has given up the fourth-most PPR points per game to opposing backs.

The Raiders should remain competitive in this game. It's the perfect opportunity for the team to ride its prized rookie running back to a victory. If Jeanty can’t produce in this matchup, then it’s officially time to hit the panic button. For now, managers should leave Jeanty in lineups as he should have his best game as a professional this weekend.

Nick Chubb and Woody Marks - RBs, Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans

The Texans' offense has been an absolute disaster, and it’s largely to blame for the team’s 0-3 start. C.J. Stroud does not resemble the same quarterback we saw two years ago, and the team’s ground game has also been ineffective. However, Houston's re-made offensive line could largely be blamed for all of these issues.

Houston only ranks 17th in offensive rushing DVOA, but it has a great chance to get the ground game going today. The Texans will face a Tennessee Titans defense that allows nearly 146 rushing yards per game and ranks 26th in PFF’s rushing defense grade.

The Texans are also 7-point favorites in this matchup, and could be playing with a lead for most of the game. Even with the team deploying a more committee approach at running back last week, there could be plenty of opportunities for both of Houston’s backs to feast.

Gamers should consider Chubb a viable flex play in standard leagues, who should be downgraded in PPR formats. Marks is also a viable flex play in deeper leagues, but he does get a boost in PPR leagues. Start them both, as this is a good matchup for the Houston ground attack to find its footing.

RB Sits - Week 4 Fantasy Football

Quinshon Judkins - RB, Cleveland Browns at Detroit Lions

Judkins has been highly impressive through two games, and it looks like the Browns have found the heir to long-time starter Nick Chubb. However, we may want to temper expectations this week as the Browns take on a red-hot Detroit Lions team that's fresh off an upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Detroit currently ranks fourth in defensive rushing DVOA, and the Browns are now 10-point underdogs in this matchup. That means Cleveland will likely be playing from behind for the majority of this game, so Judkins could easily be phased out of the offense if the team is forced into catch-up mode.

Judkins is an exciting rookie, but this is a spot where it’s better to leave him on your bench.

David Montgomery - RB, Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns

Montgomery had a huge performance in Detroit’s Monday night upset over the Baltimore Ravens. He ran for 151 rushing yards, scored two touchdowns, and finished the week as the overall RB2.

This week is a different story, as the Browns actually boast one of the best run defenses in the league. Cleveland allows just 57.3 rushing yards per game and has allowed the second-fewest PPR points per game to opposing backs. Detroit is more than aware of Cleveland’s strong rushing defense, so it’s likely they will attack the Browns through the air in an attempt to build a big lead.

That could leave little upside for Montgomery. Unless he pops for a couple of long runs like he did against the Ravens, this could be a matchup where he struggles. Gamers can safely leave Montgomery out of lineups in favor of other options.

Javonte Williams - RB, Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers

Williams has had a fantastic start to the season, but this is a game where he could disappoint. Despite allowing Quinshon Judkins to run for 94 yards and a touchdown in Week 3, all of the metrics still point to Green Bay being one of the best run defenses in the league.

The Cowboys' offense is banged up, and those injuries could really limit the team’s ability to effectively run the football. There’s also a scenario where Dallas falls behind early in this game and is forced to abandon the run altogether.

Expect Green Bay’s run defense to bounce back in this game, and that would make Williams an unfortunate casualty. If you have other viable options, consider leaving Williams on your bench.

WR Starts - Week 4 Fantasy Football

Michael Pittman Jr. - WR, Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Rams

Pittman is coming off a 6-73-1 effort last week. He now gets to face a Rams defense that’s allowed the 12th most PPR points per game to opposing wide receivers. Pittman also has a plus matchup in my colleague, Corbin Young’s Week 4 WR/CB matchup chart.

The Daniel Jones pixie dust is going to run out at some point, but it could continue for one more week against the Rams. Start Pittman as a WR3 or flex play.

Christian Kirk - WR, Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans

Kirk made his season debut for the Texans last week. He only posted a 3-25-0 line but was targeted eight times. Houston’s Week 4 opponent, the Tennessee Titans, has allowed the third-most PPR points per game to opposing wide receivers this year.

This is a great spot to throw Kirk into lineups. Consider him a viable play as a WR3 or flex option in deeper leagues.

Matthew Golden - WR, Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys' passing defense has been awful, and the team has allowed the most PPR points per game to opposing wide receivers this year. Dallas has also been dreadful guarding opposing teams’ WR1s and ranks 28th in DVOA against the position.

With Jayden Reed sidelined due to multiple injuries, Golden saw a huge uptick in playing time in Week 3. Expect that trend to continue, and that makes Golden live for a monster game against Dallas. Fire him up in all formats as he could pop for a week-winning performance.

WR Sits - Week 4 Fantasy Football

D.K. Metcalf - WR, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota’s passing defense has been very good and has allowed the fewest PPR points to opposing wide receivers. RotoBaller’s Week 4 WR/CB matchups chart also has Metcalf slated to go against cornerback Isaiah Rodgers. This is a tough draw for the Pittsburgh WR1, and he could really struggle to produce in this game.

Throw in the fact that Metcalf is averaging a little over five targets per game, and he becomes an easy fade.

Rashid Shaheed - WR, New Orleans Saints at Buffalo Bills

New Orleans goes up against arguably the best team in the NFL today. The Saints are 15.5-point underdogs to the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo has done a nice job limiting opposing wide receivers and allows the 10th-fewest PPR points per game to the position.

It’s easy to see this game spiraling out of control with the Saints trailing by multiple scores in the early going. That won’t necessarily mean good things for Shaheed as the Saints' passing offense struggled to provide significant fantasy value in Week 3, even when they were blown out by the Seattle Seahawks in a 44-13 loss. Shaheed only caught four passes for 42 yards in that game.

We could be in store for similar results later today. This New Orleans offense is just a complete mess. Until further notice, it's better to leave Shaheed (and possibly all New Orleans skill players) on the bench for the time being.

Wan’Dale Robinson - WR, New York Giants vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Robinson was a favorite target of the now-benched Russell Wilson. Jaxson Dart is taking over QB1 duties, and it’s unclear who he will target behind stud WR1 Malik Nabers.

Even if we put that uncertainty behind us, the Chargers' pass defense has been very good through three games. Los Angeles allows the ninth-fewest passing yards per game and has allowed just one touchdown to opposing wide receivers this year.

We also have to consider that Robinson is playing with a rookie quarterback making his first career start against one of the best defenses in the league. While Robinson has been a nice value for gamers in full PPR leagues, this is not a week to trust him.

TE Starts - Week 4 Fantasy Football

T.J. Hockenson TE, Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers

Hockenson finally showed signs of life in Week 3 after a disappointing first two games. He posted a 5-49-1 line on six targets and finished as the overall TE5.

Minnesota now takes on a Steelers defense that’s allowed the most touchdowns and PPR points per game to opposing tight ends this year. Pittsburgh also ranks just 22nd in defensive DVOA against the position.

Current Vikings starter Carson Wentz has historically relied on tight ends, and this is a better matchup for Hockenson than some people might think. Start him as a TE1 play in all formats.

Kyle Pitts Sr. - TE, Atlanta Falcons vs. Washington Commanders

Pitts has only caught 15 passes for 135 receiving yards this year, but he's seen an uptick in playing time to begin the year. He and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. have reportedly been working hard to hone their connection, and we should see that begin to pay dividends as the season progresses.

This week could be the time when it all comes together. Washington currently ranks 29th in defensive DVOA against tight ends and allows 71 receiving yards per game to the position. Pitts also found the endzone against Washington's defense last year when these two teams played, and he is live to do so again this weekend.

If you’ve been streaming tight ends, Pitts is a good name to consider.

TE Sits - Week 4 Fantasy Football

Sam LaPorta - TE, Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns

LaPorta started the season with a solid performance against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. He caught six passes for 79 receiving yards and finished as the PPR TE5. Since that outing, though, LaPorta has not caught more than four passes or had more than 33 receiving yards in a game.

Detroit’s TE1 could struggle again today, as Cleveland has been very good at guarding opposing tight ends. The Browns rank third in defensive DVOA against the position and only allow 27.7 receiving yards per game to the position. It's likely Detroit attacks the Browns' secondary through its trio of wide receivers in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and rookie Isaac TeSlaa. That would leave LaPorta on the outside looking in for targets.

There will be plenty of other spots to deploy LaPorta this year, but this is a spot where it’s best to leave him on your bench.

Juwan Johnson - TE, New Orleans Saints at Buffalo Bills

Johnson has opened up the 2025 season with three straight TE1 performances. He could come crashing back down to earth in this game, though, as Buffalo allows just 10.7 receiving yards per game to opposing tight ends and has given up the second-fewest PPR points to the position.

Like we mentioned earlier, there is a scenario where the Buffalo defense completely stymies the New Orleans offense, and that would make it hard for Johnson to return any significant fantasy value.

Mark Andrews - TE, Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs

Andrews is coming off a phenomenal performance in Week 3, where he posted a 6-91-2 line and finished the week as the overall TE2. However, Andrews was a complete afterthought in the Ravens offense during the first two weeks, and we may want to temper our expectations for Week 4.

Kansas City’s defense has had some issues this year, but they have been good at limiting opposing tight ends. The Chiefs have allowed the third-fewest PPR points to opposing tight ends and allow an average of 34 receiving yards per game to the position.

It also looks like Isaiah Likely will return for this game after missing the first three weeks of the season. His presence will boost the already strong Baltimore passing attack, but it also means more target competition for Andrews.

Last week was fun, but don’t take the cheese. Andrews has a tough matchup here and still faces a lot of target competition in a run-heavy offense. Consider other streaming options for this week.
