Kicker Competition in Carolina Remains Open
Matthew Wright and Ryan Fitzgerald, according to Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer. The 29-year-old Wright has played for six NFL teams across five seasons, with his longest run being a 14-game stretch for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. He's made 87.3% of his 63 career field goal attempts with a long of 59 yards. Fitzgerald is an undrafted rookie out of Florida State who made all 13 of his field goal attempts in his final collegiate season. Both kickers will get their next chance to separate themselves in Carolina's second preseason game on Saturday against the Houston Texans.
