Jason Myers a Strong Kicker Option in Week 1
Jason Myers is a solid option at the position in Week 1. Myers has been relatively accurate over his last few seasons in Seattle. He only missed four field goals in 2024. When given the chance, Myers often delivers solid fantasy value. Seattle is facing off with a San Francisco 49ers defense devoid of a lot of the talent they used to have. The defense will be well coached, but they have serious question marks in the secondary that could allow the Seahawks to go up and down the field. That is a kicker's dream, as Myers should be in solid positions to kick extra points and field goals throughout the game. Kicker is one of the more variable positions in fantasy, but Myers should be a plug-and-play option in Week 1.

Tyler Bass Iffy to Kick on Sunday Night
Tyler Bass (hip, groin) was fairly reliable over his first five seasons, but his sixth year in the NFL is off to an injury-riddled start. After Bass missed most of training camp and all but one preseason game with pelvic soreness, his status for Week 1 is in question because of hip and groin issues. Bass did not practice on Thursday and will not practice on Friday, which could set the stage for just-signed veteran Matt Prater to kick against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The big-legged Prater, 41, has had a quality career. However, Prater will be hard to count on for the Bills and fantasy managers after he missed most of last season with a torn meniscus as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Bass is RotoBaller's 10th-ranked kicker going into the season, but even if he does play Sunday, he's a high-risk option because of his injury troubles.

Tyler Bass Missing Another Practice
Tyler Bass (hip, groin) will not practice on Friday. Bass will miss his second consecutive practice after logging a limited session to start the week. The 28-year-old has been dealing with a lingering hip injury this offseason that he has been unable to shake. While Bass hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's meeting with the Baltimore Ravens, it'd undoubtedly be a surprise to see him suit up at this point -- particularly with Buffalo's signing of veteran kicker Matt Prater to the practice squad on Thursday. Fantasy managers can't yet rule him out, but with a Sunday night kickoff on tap, a contingency plan at the position is a sound strategy. Bass is ranked as a top ten option at his position per RotoBaller's Week 1 rankings.

Tyler Bass Downgraded to DNP on Thursday
Tyler Bass (hip) did not practice on Thursday after being listed as a limited practice participant on the first injury report of the year on Wednesday. Bass has been managing a hip injury since late July and missed time in training camp, although he did manage to kick in the preseason finale two weeks ago. But his downgrade on the Week 1 injury report, combined with the news of Buffalo signing veteran Matt Prater to the practice squad on Thursday means the veteran kicker's availability for Week 1 on Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens could be in jeopardy. Fantasy managers that drafted Bass as their starting kicker might have to find a replacement sooner than they were expecting if he ends up questionable or out on Friday's final injury report.

Cameron Dicker Remains a Top Kicker for Week 1
Cameron Dicker is a strong pick in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs despite a potentially tough venue in São Paulo, Brazil. Dicker is coming off a career-high 150-point season, with an impressive 92.9% field goal accuracy, including nine of 11 from beyond 50 yards. While the game at Arena Corinthians might have poor, slick field conditions, Dicker has consistently shown his reliability. The Chargers' improved offense should give him plenty of chances to produce. Last year's performance makes him one of the most accurate and dependable kickers in the league, and RotoBaller projects Dicker as the K6 for the week. Dicker is a must-start given his elite accuracy and the possibility that the Chiefs' defense will limit red-zone touchdowns.

Bills Sign Matt Prater to Practice Squad
Matt Prater to their practice squad on Thursday, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. Fantasy managers that drafted Tyler Bass (hip) as their starting kicker need to pay close attention heading into this weekend. Although Bass was limited in Wednesday's practice, he could be in danger of missing the Week 1 game on Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens. If Bass is questionable on Friday's final injury report, we'd suggest going in another direction at the position unless you want to get stuck choosing from a kicker from the Monday night game between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. Bass has been managing a hip injury since the end of July, although he was able to take part in the preseason finale two weeks ago.

Jake Elliott Looks To Be Perfect Again Against Cowboys
Jake Elliott gets his season underway on Thursday in a division rivalry matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. In two meetings against Dallas last season, Elliott was perfect from the spot, making all four of his field goal attempts and going nine-for-nine on extra points. He did struggle on attempts from beyond 50 yards in 2024, making just one out of seven tries, but was one of the best in the league from 40-49 yards, going eight-of-nine from that range. The Cowboys also let up the second most points per game last season (27.5), and with Philly's high-powered offense it seems likely they'll put a good amount of points on the board. Elliott should be a starting kicker in fantasy lineups for Week 1.

Ryan Fitzgerald Has a High Ceiling, Not on the Fantasy Radar for Week 1
Ryan Fitzgerald has earned the Panthers' placekicker role. The former Florida State Seminole could prove to be a fantasy asset due to his strong leg. In his final college season, he hit all five attempts from 50+ yards out, including a 59-yarder against Georgia Tech. With the Panthers facing a bad Jacksonville defense in Week 1, Fitzgerald could be in for a productive day. Given his range and a favorable matchup, he could pay early dividends for fantasy managers looking for a kicker with a high ceiling. Despite the favorable matchup against the Jaguars, Fitzgerald is ranked 23rd among kickers in the latest RotoBaller rankings for Week 1.

Brandon Aubrey Remains Fantasy Starter Despite Tough Matchup
Brandon Aubrey should be inserted into fantasy managers' starting lineups despite a difficult matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Kicking on the road isn't easy, especially when the venue doesn't have a roof. However, Aubrey has repeatedly shown that he can nail long kicks in difficult conditions. Although he went 0-for-1 on field goals in Philadelphia last year, that came during a rough period of time when Dak Prescott was sidelined. He looked better when the Cowboys hosted the Eagles, going 2-for-2 on field goals with a successful 46-yarder. The biggest reason why you should start Aubrey, though, is his track record. He has been either K1 or K2 in each of his two NFL seasons, and Aubrey in an unfavorable venue is still better than many kickers in the serenity of a dome. Philadelphia's defense may limit Dallas' red-zone opportunities, but the Cowboys' kicker should still have several opportunities to add points via field goals. Start him with confidence in Week 1.

Tyler Loop Could Become Household Name Sooner Than Later
Tyler Loop has a tall task of replacing seven-time Pro Bowler Justin Tucker, but NFL.com's Bucky Brooks writes that Loop "appears to be well on his way to becoming a household name as a long-distance scorer with unlimited range." Loop made 81.8 percent of his field-goal attempts during the regular season and also made a 61-yarder. He made all eight of his extra-point attempts and heads into his first NFL as a "model of consistency," which is what head coach John Harbaugh expects at the position. The 24-year-old sixth-rounder definitely has the leg to succeed at this level, and in one of the best offenses in the league, he could be on the fantasy radar in 12-team leagues before long, too. Right now, though, RotoBaller has Loop ranked as the No. 19 fantasy kicker with Week 1 just a week away.

Bills Work Out Three Kickers on Thursday
Eddy Pineiro, Zane Gonzalez and Greg Joseph on Thursday, sources told Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. Incumbent Bills kicker Tyler Bass missed the team's first two preseason games with a pelvis injury, but he returned for the preseason finale last weekend and went 3-for-4 on his field-goal tries while making both of his extra-point attempts against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's unclear if the 28-year-old has suffered a setback with his pelvic injury, but at the very least, Buffalo is looking to give themselves an insurance policy at the position. Pineiro has five years of NFL experience, Gonzalez has six years of experience, and Joseph also has six years of NFL experience. If Bass ends up missing regular-season games, one of Pineiro, Gonzalez or Joseph could end up becoming a decent fantasy streamer.

Dolphins Officially Sign Riley Patterson to Practice Squad
Riley Patterson to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Patterson is expected to be elevated to kick against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 of the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 7, in place of the injured Jason Sanders (hip). The Dolphins put Sanders on short-term Injured Reserve on Tuesday, meaning he'll miss at least the first four games of the 2025 season. The 25-year-old Patterson will get a shot to fill in as Miami's kicker until Sanders returns, although he won't really be a starting kicking option in 12-team fantasy leagues. Patterson has already kicked for five different teams in his four NFL seasons and has made 85.1% of his 74 field-goal attempts and 96.5% of his 112 extra-point tries. He's gone just 4-for-9 from 50-plus yards out.

Miami to Sign Riley Patterson to Practice Squad
Riley Patterson to their practice squad, general manager Chris Grier said Wednesday. Miami will spend at least the first four weeks without starting kicker Jason Sanders (hip) and needs a bit of help at the kicker spot. Patterson kicked for three teams in 2024, going 16-for-16 on extra points and 4-for-7 on field goals. As long as Sanders is injured, Patterson should have a solid chance to work his way onto the 53-man roster, but he will be no more than a shaky deep-league streamer at the kicking position in fantasy.

Dolphins Place Jason Sanders on Injured Reserve
Jason Sanders (hip) on the Injured Reserve on Tuesday due to a hip injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. It means that Sanders will be forced to miss at least the first four games of the 2025 season. It was announced on Monday that Sanders would miss four to five weeks, so his placement on the short-term IR isn't a huge surprise. Fantasy managers should obviously be avoiding the 29-year-old kicker in all leagues to begin the season. It's unclear who will kick for the Dolphins in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Sept. 7, but whoever it is will merely be a deep-league streaming option in fantasy. Miami did work out kicker Eddy Pineiro on Tuesday. Sanders has spent all seven of his NFL seasons with the Dolphins and has made 84.6% of his 221 field-goal attempts over 116 games played.

Browns Release Dustin Hopkins
Andre Szmyt will open the 2025 regular season as the team's placekicker, although the Browns could still bring in more competition before Week 1. Hopkins will be let go after spending the last two seasons kicking for Cleveland, where he went 51-for-63 on his field-goal attempts (81%) and 41-for-46 on his extra-point tries in 31 total games. The final straw for the 34-year-old veteran might have been when he missed one of his two extra-point tries in the preseason finale on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. Hopkins entered training camp on shaky ground at the position after going 18-for-27 on his field goals in 16 games a year ago.
