Nick Pivetta Has "Mild Strain"
8 months agoBoston Red Sox general manager Craig Breslow said that right-hander Nick Pivetta (elbow) has a "mild strain" of the flexor tendon in his right arm and could return from the 15-day injured list when he's eligible. The Red Sox wanted to take advantage of the early season schedule to give Pivetta some time off. The 31-year-old is going to miss the next two weeks, but fantasy managers that have him rostered need to keep him in an IL spot until he returns. Pivetta has been excellent in the early going, allowing only an earned run on a solo home run while walking one and fanning 13 in 11 innings over his first two starts in 2024. It's unknown who will take his rotation spot in the short term, with Cooper Criswell, Chase Anderson and Josh Winckowski all being candidates for a few spots starts.
