Matt Vierling Back In Tigers Lineup
2 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling (back) has returned from the 10-day injured list and is starting in center field and batting sixth in Monday's lineup against Atlanta Braves right-hander Charlie Morton. Vierling played in two minor-league rehab games over the weekend with Triple-A Toledo and is now ready to return to a pretty regular outfield role in Detroit. The 26-year-old has produced modest numbers across the board so far in 197 major-league games over three seasons, and he's returning to a .241 average (39-for-162) with six doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, four stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 175 plate appearances (46 games) in his first year with the Tigers. He's currently rostered in just 1% of Yahoo leagues.
