Jets Likely To Focus On The Trenches Early In Draft
2 years agoNew York Jets general manager Joe Douglas is all about building in the trenches, so the team is likely to go with either an offensive or defensive linemen with their No. 13 overall pick in the first round next week in the NFL draft. The Jets have a need at defensive tackle after losing Sheldon Rankins to the Texans. However, it's unlikely that a top defensive tackle will be available at 13th overall unless Georgia's Jalen Carter slips. Iowa edge rusher Lukas Van Ness and Georgia's Nolan Smith could be considered if they don't go offensive tackle. The team's pursuit of receiver Odell Beckham Jr. shouldn't signal a belief that the front office will address the position on Days 1 and 2 of the draft. The Jets could realistically target offensive tackle in the first two rounds.
