Jerick McKinnon Won't Play Until Week 1
6 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon (calf) will not play until Week 1 of the regular season against the Vikings, according to general manager John Lynch. It's not what you want to see, but at least we know he'll be ready to start the season. McKinnon has been hyped all offseason as head coach Kyle Shanahan's shiny new toy in an improving offense. He will lead this backfield in carries, but backup Matt Breida will also have a role. McKinnon could be overvalued in fantasy drafts but should be a strong RB2, especially in PPR leagues. With McKinnon and Matt Breida out for the rest of the preseason, it'll open up repetitions for Alfred Morris, Jeremy McNichols, Raheem Mostert and Joe Williams to compete for the No. 3 job to open the season.
