Jack Flaherty Starting Against Astros Monday
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-hander Jack Flaherty (calf, illness) is making the Grapefruit League start on Monday against the Houston Astros. Flaherty has been dealing with a minor calf issue and was scratched from his scheduled spring debut on Sunday with flu-like symptoms. The 27-year-old starter is expected to go around three innings in his first Grapefruit League appearance. Flaherty should have plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day, but fantasy managers probably aren't chomping at the bit to draft him in 2023 after made just nine appearances (eight starts) for the Red Birds in 2022 due to injuries. There's a good chance he'll face innings restrictions this year after throwing only 190 2/3 frames in the last three years combined.
