Dodgers Place J.D. Martinez On Injured List
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers placed designated hitter J.D. Martinez (back) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with lower-back tightness. The move is retroactive to April 25. The good news for the Dodgers is that they also got back catcher Will Smith (concussion) and infielder Max Muncy (paternity list) for the start of the weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Hopefully, the 35-year-old Martinez will require a minimal stint on the injured list. In his first 23 games and 98 plate appearances in his first year in LA, the veteran right-handed slugger is batting .250 (22-for-88) with nine doubles, two triples, four home runs and 15 RBI. Martinez needs to be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy formats until he returns.
