Houston Astros second baseman Brendan Rodgers (back, head) will miss the rest of the season with lumbar spine inflammation. Rodgers made what proved to be his final appearance of the season with the Astros on June 14, when he strained his left oblique and had to go on the 10-day injured list. A little over a month later, Rodgers suffered a concussion and a nasal fracture in his first Triple-A rehab game. Rodgers embarked on another rehab assignment in August, but the Astros had to shut him down a few weeks ago on account of his back issue. Between the nonstop injuries and his poor production when he was healthy, it was a brutal season for Rodgers. After opening 2025 as the Astros' starting baseman, the 29-year-old went on to play 43 games and hit .191/.266/.278 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 128 plate appearances.--Connor Byrne
