Andrew McCutchen Out With Sore Elbow
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton said that outfielder Andrew McCutchen (elbow) is dealing with a sore-right elbow and was given the day off on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs to manage it. It doesn't sound like a very serious injury, so fantasy managers should consider the 36-year-old veteran to be day-to-day for now. He could be right back in there on Thursday in a matchup against the Miami Marlins. With McCutchen out, rookie catcher Henry Davis is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. June hasn't been McCutchen's best month, as he's hitting just .225 (9-for-40) with a homer and three RBI, but he's walked 16 times against only nine strikeouts in 13 games.
