Adley Rutschman Sitting Out On Sunday
5 months agoBaltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman is taking the day off as the Orioles look to avoid the three-game sweep on Sunday at the hands of the visiting San Diego Padres. James McCann will do the catching for Baltimore and will bat ninth against Padres right-hander Randy Vasquez. Rutschman remains one of the best hitting catchers in the big leagues and is a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's active, but the 26-year-old switch-hitting former first overall pick in 2019 out of Oregon State is in a bit of a funk at the plate right now. In 18 games in July, he's gone 9-for-68 (.132) with two homers, a double, six RBI, 11 walks and eight strikeouts in 79 plate appearances to drop his season slash line to .266/.333/.430. McCann is a DFS option to avoid and he's never faced Vasquez in his career.
