2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed earlier this week that the team will officially be moving forward with rookie seventh-round quarterback Brock Purdy under center after the injury to Jimmy Garoppolo (foot), beginning in Week 14 against a tough Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. There's a small chance that Garoppolo could return if the Niners make it deep into the postseason, but it's unlikely. Purdy looked good in relief of Jimmy G in the Week 13 win over the Miami Dolphins, going 25-for-37 for 210 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. If anything were to happen to Purdy, journeyman Josh Johnson would be forced into action. Purdy will be a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues the rest of the way, and he could struggle this Sunday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
