Ervin Santana Has Surgery, Out 10-12 Weeks
Ervin Santana (finger) underwent surgery on the middle finger of his right hand and will be out 10 to 12 weeks from Tuesday. This will obviously put a serious dent in Santana's fantasy value, as he will now miss the start of the regular season. The veteran right-hander was an All-Star in 2017 by posting a 3.27 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 167 strikeouts in 211 innings while also winning 16 games for the Twins. A fortunate BABIP and strand rate helped keep his ERA down, but he's at serious risk of regression in 2018 if he keeps allowing too many fly balls, even in a pitcher-friendly park.
