Dominick's Week 4 college football quarterback rankings for 2025. His top national QBs for Week 4, including Garrett Nussmeier, Dante Moore, and more.
For those of you who may have been upset that Arch Manning was left off the initial list, I present to you his performance against UTEP, A game where USC and Boise State washout Malachi Nelson outplayed him. Enough said. Name or not, he needs to prove it first.
What about DJ Lagway? Five INT against LSU. This was the only reason Florida lost the game. The Gators were the better team. They could not get over the mistakes made by Lagway. A quarterback many analysts felt would be No. 1 by season’s end. Now, he may not even be the No. 1 for the Gators if this keeps up.
We had some good and some bad this week. Let’s see how it affected the ranks. Who grabbed a spot and who fell out.

Top 10 College Football Quarterbacks for Week 4
Dante Moore, RS Sophomore, Oregon
Moore did nothing this week to lose his place at number one. He also did nothing to extend this rank, as several others on the list moved up and are about to knock on the door.

Against an overmatched Northwestern, Moore and the Ducks got off to a sluggish start, only scoring 17 points in the first half. Much like all their games this season, the game was over after the third quarter. In this case, though, Oregon gave up 14 points in the fourth quarter after Moore went out. A game against Oregon State should not be a challenge on Saturday. But this rivalry is never normal, so expect something strange. The Ducks will then go to Penn State on September 27 for a whiteout. If he performs in that game, he can cement his place.
Sawyer Robertson, Senior, Baylor
Robertson’s 1,070 passing yards in 2025 rank him No. 2 in the nation behind Steve Angeli of Syracuse (1,108) and just ahead of Darian Mensah of Duke (1,037). The difference is the teams around them. Duke and Syracuse might be legitimately bad teams in a weak ACC, while Baylor, despite losing to Auburn, is still a top contender for the Big XII title.
Robertson could easily be at No. 1 on this list. But, until Moore does something to lose the rank or Robertson puts up a staggering stat line, both will remain static. Robertson and his 10 touchdowns are making it difficult, though, and if Moore does not perform against Oregon State this week or Penn State in two weeks, decisions can certainly go in a different direction.
John Mateer, Junior, Oklahoma
Oklahoma went on the road to Philadelphia on Saturday to take on Temple. Your guess is as good as mine as to why. I am guessing a two-for-one deal. This happened several times this week.
Fortunately, the Sooners were able to survive and avoid the upset as they prevailed 42-3. Mateer used this game to show his acrobatic side. Throwing off his back foot and off balance. He was having fun. He must have had it itching inside and needed to finally let it out.

In addition to 282 yards and one passing touchdown, Mateer also had a 51-yard touchdown run against the Owls. Auburn is up next, and Mateer and the Sooners will be forced to score against Jackson Arnold and the Tigers.
Beau Pribula, Senior, Missouri
Pribula is still not attempting to run the way he was used in Penn State. Instead, he has taken the bye week games, like the one Saturday against Louisiana, to practice his passing. He finished this game with 15-22 passing for 174 yards, two touchdowns, and one INT. This was his first INT of the season, and it had no part in the game as Missouri still managed to beat Louisiana 52-10. He'd better get it out of his system now, as he heads into SEC play and will be facing far tougher defenses than he has in his first five halves of play.
Luke Altmyer, Senior, Illinois
Another week, another bye week for the Big Ten. This includes the Illini who found the will to beat the vaunted Western Michigan Broncos 38-0. The easy schedule gets a bit more difficult this week.
This week, Illinois will face a challenge as it travels to Bloomington to take on the suddenly good Indiana team. The Hoosiers, who have lost just two games since the start of last season, will look to continue their rush through teams in their first real game of 2025.
Altmyer will need to show his passing ability as Indiana comes into the game averaging 52.0/points. Good for No. 7 in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten behind Oregon.
Haynes King, Senior, Georgia Tech
Speaking of running, Haynes King ran all over the Clemson Tigers on Saturday. This allowed the Yellow Jackets to win the game and put Georgia Tech into an advantageous position for a trip to the ACC title game.
GT has an easy schedule compared to others. They have already beaten Clemson, and they will not face Miami, Florida State, SMU, or Louisville this season. With Duke down, the only tough game left for Tech is its annual rivalry game against the Georgia Bulldogs, which will not matter for the ACC standings.

King’s specialty is running the ball. In two games this season, against Colorado and Clemson, he has rushed the ball 44 times for 259 yards and four touchdowns. This yardage is less than 100 yards less than he has thrown for (354 yards). Even without passing, he is still the most dangerous runner on the list. This makes this ranking worth it.
Devon Dampier, Junior, Utah
Dampier, a junior transfer from New Mexico, is performing to the level Kyle Whittingham and the Utah Utes needed from him after taking him in the transfer portal from the Lobos.
Through three games, Dampier has shown his ability to get the ball out in the pass game, going 65-of-89 for 628 yards and seven touchdowns. On the ground, Dampier has rushed for 198 yards on 33 carries. This is a continuation of his 2024 season, when Dampier finished with 155 carries for 1,166 yards.
Dampier is a dangerous weapon. Especially for a team in the Big XII, where one player can really be effective.
After a game against UCLA in Week 1, the Utes will take on their toughest challenge thus far on Saturday when Texas Tech finally leaves Lubbock for the first time and arrives at Rice-Eccles Stadium. With right tackle Spencer Fano and left tackle Caleb Lomu being two of the top offensive linemen in the nation and favorites to both in the first 20 picks of the 2026 NFL draft, Dampier has an elite offensive line. This will not only allow him to grow as a passer, but it will also allow him to continue running through opponents as the Utes look to put their miserable 2024 behind them and vie for the conference title in year two.
Tommy Castellanos, Senior, Florida State
Not much to add to Castellanos. Florida State had a bye week, so the only movement seen in Castellanos's ranking was based on players around him moving up or down. After what is to be another blowout this week against Kent State, the Seminoles will finally enter conference play, and we can see how he follows up on his performance against Alabama.
Josh Hoover, Junior, TCU
Hoover followed up his 284-yard, two-touchdown performance against UNC in week 1 with a similar 337-yard, four-touchdown performance in Week 3. The difference is the opponent.
UNC is not good. But the Tar Heels are better than Abilene Christian. This will be a wait-and-see approach on Hoover. If he continues to put up numbers, he can move back up. But against teams like Abilene Christian. The battle for the iron skillet this week against SMU on Saturday will be a better gauge to see where Hoover should be on this list.
Jackson Arnold, Junior, Auburn
Arnold has had a good first season on the planes, but this is the week he has been waiting for all summer. He gets to return to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. If he can make magic in this game for the Tigers and beat his former team, a rise is coming. If he plays in this game in the same manner he played while on the Oklahoma roster, he might plummet off this list quicker than Enron stock after an audit is done of the numbers. Let’s just hope for a good game for both teams.

Garrett Nussmeier, Senior, LSU
While Lagway was losing the game for the Gators on Saturday, Nussmeier was not winning it. He has a few good throws. But he also had a few throws that never should have been made. One cost him with an interception, and another one should have been picked if the defender was not as shocked as the rest of us that he even threw it.
Wins are what count, and LSU has gotten theirs so far. They will need to get a ton of things fixed up this week against Southeast Louisiana University. Otherwise, their next real test in two weeks at Ole Miss might be their last as an undefeated team.
