Week 16 Kicker Streamers and Starts - 2023 Fantasy Tiers, Rankings

Blake-Grupe-Fantasy-Football-Rankings-Draft-Sleepers-Kickers-Waiver-Wire-Pickups-icon2-rotoballer

Tony Camino breaks down all 2023 fantasy football Week 16 kickers - streamers, starts, sits, targets, avoids, and waiver wire pickups. Our Week 16 rankings and tiers for all of the NFL kickers.

Most leagues are in some stage of the playoffs at this point, and congrats to all those still alive! Today we are back with more fantasy football advice to help you set those winning lineups with our Week 16 fantasy football kicker streamers and starts. Selecting the right kicker could be the difference between winning or losing your league matchup.

Last week's streamers to target didn't go as planned, as Riley Patterson was ruled out due to injury, and Brandon McManus ended in the negatives due to two misses from 50 or more yards. Avoiding Cairo Santos and Daniel Carlson was the right move, even though Carlson ended up with nine points without a field goal attempt.

Let’s aim for significant success this week in playoff matchups. Here are the Week 16 rankings and kickers to stream and avoid.

Kicker Streamers to Target in Week 16

All streamers in this article are rostered in under 60% of Yahoo leagues.

Matt Gay (IND) at Atlanta Falcons (35% Rostered)

Indianapolis Colts kicker Matt Gay ranks as the fourth-best fantasy kicker this year, averaging 8.71 points per game. In Week 15, the 29-year-old had his sixth double-digit fantasy game of the year, but he left plenty of points on the table. Gay missed from 56 and 43 yards, which hindered what could have been a massive fantasy day, but the volume of opportunities remains encouraging for fantasy managers. However, the veteran has missed four kicks over his last two games and will need to be more accurate going forward.

In Week 16, the Colts face the Falcons, who have allowed the fifth-most points per game to kickers this season. Gay has consistently scored at least seven points in each of the last five games played in a dome, and he has missed just four field goal attempts in dome games this year. With multiple field goal attempts in seven of the last 10 games, Gay's prospects are promising, and he should get multiple attempts in Week 16.

Blake Grupe (NO) at Los Angeles Rams (7% Rostered)

New Orleans Saints kicker Blake Grupe ranks as the 10th-best fantasy kicker this year, averaging 8.36 points per game. His recent modest output can be attributed to attempting only two field goals in the last three games. The Saints' surge of 11 touchdowns in the same period is unlikely to continue, especially for an offense considered, at best, average.

The rookie Grupe, 25-of-32 on the year with six kicks from 50 yards or deeper, faces the Rams in Week 16, a team allowing the seventh-most points per game to kickers this season. The dome conditions favor Grupe, and it's anticipated he'll have at least one deep attempt in this game. Throughout his rookie season, Grupe has demonstrated reliability, and the team has shown trust in his ability to make longer kicks. If the Saints' offense can generate scoring opportunities without converting every red zone entry into a touchdown, Grupe is poised to have a solid day.

Jake Moody (SF) vs. Baltimore Ravens (54% Rostered)

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody is the most rostered player on this list, boasting the lowest ceiling but the highest floor among the available options. In Week 15, the rookie kicker made his only field goal attempt and successfully converted all six extra points, securing his fifth double-digit game of the season. Notably, he has missed only three kicks all year, with two on the road by the lake in Cleveland. Moody has been flawless since Week 7, making all seven field goals and 29 extra points during this period.

For Week 16, the 49ers face the Ravens, a team that allows the 12th-most points per game to kickers this season. At the very least, Moody is expected to accumulate five or six points from extra points and one field goal alone. Given the Ravens' strong defense, the 49ers may find themselves relying on field goals more frequently if they struggle in the red zone. Moody represents a safe option, benefiting from kicking for a high-powered offense, although he may not be the player to single-handedly win matchups.

Kickers to Avoid in Week 16

Fantasy players should always stream the kicker position. However, it’s important to avoid picking up and starting a kicker that will be a bust. Let’s see which two kickers you shouldn’t pick up off the waiver wire this week.

Cameron Dicker (LAC) vs. Buffalo Bills (53% Rostered)

Los Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker currently ranks as the 21st-best fantasy kicker this season, having not attempted a single field goal over the last two weeks. The 23-year-old started the season strongly, with four double-digit games in the first eight matchups, but has failed to replicate that success since then. Despite missing just one kick all season, back in Week 3, Dicker's accuracy hasn't translated into fantasy production, largely due to the Chargers' offensive struggles.

In Week 16, the Chargers face the Bills, a team that allows the fifth-fewest points per game to kickers this season. While the game will be in a dome, the Chargers' offense has suffered a significant setback without Justin Herbert, and with Easton Stick at quarterback, scoring points may be a challenge. Dicker managed just three points in the recent blowout loss in Week 15, with all extra points coming from garbage time touchdowns. With the Chargers likely to be trailing early and potentially opting for aggressive plays over field goals, Dicker is no longer considered a solid fantasy option following the loss of Herbert.

Chris Boswell (PIT) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (35% Rostered)

Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell experienced his first scoreless game of the season in Week 15, attempting no field goals and going one-for-two on extra points. The Steelers' overall offensive struggles, a consistent theme in recent weeks and throughout the entire season, have impacted Boswell's fantasy production. Over the last three games, he has attempted just two field goals and has made one or fewer attempts in four of the last five games.

In Week 16, the Steelers face the Bengals, who rank in the middle of the pack in points allowed to kickers this season. Although Boswell posted 11 points in their Week 12 meeting, the Steelers' offense has notably struggled since then. With the announcement of Mason Rudolph starting over Mitch Trubisky, becoming the third quarterback to start for the Steelers this season, the uncertainty and lackluster performances in previously favorable matchups suggest that Boswell should be avoided. The Steelers' offense appears to be facing challenges in generating scoring opportunities, making Boswell a risky fantasy option at this time.
