Outfield Dynasty Rankings for Fantasy Baseball

Mike Trout - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

The outfield is the most comprehensive list when it comes to fantasy baseball hitter rankings. Most players are drafted in the outfield and most of the time, outfielders are right at the top of your list to draft or acquire in some way in a dynasty.

You don’t see many outfielders move to the infield, but you will occasionally have one lose eligibility in the outfield and become a utility player only. More likely, infielders will move to the outfield or obtain dual eligibility as they try to find a home on the diamond.

The list of 114 that follows has some great names up and down the list and boasts some of the best players in the game. 27 have cracked the top 100 with a few playing multiple positions. This is the cream of the crop when it comes to hitting for fantasy and these dynasty players could help build the cornerstone of your squad.

Preseason Thoughts

The first tier has some of the best talents we’ve ever seen in baseball. We have record-setters, future Hall of Famers, young studs, and vets that are still getting it done. That is an impressive display of talent right there at the top. One star player not on that list is Harper, who comes in at 15, behind some guys who haven’t put up the numbers that he has but have a few more years left in them than Harper does. There are some good young players that have had their cup of coffee and some even younger players that are still years away from the bigs but have superstar potential.

Tucker (6) was once a top prospect and has been productive in three major league seasons, but it finally seems like he’s getting his props in the fantasy world. That could be because he chipped in 25 stolen bases to his 30 home runs last season, something he was projected to do as a prospect but hadn’t yet done in the majors. The baserunning made up for the “down” year with the bat. Tucker struck out and walked about the same but had a lower ISO and BABIP, leading to a lower AB/HR rate and batting average. The BABIP in play should creep back up, helping his average and at age-26, he has a lot of good baseball ahead of him. He’s one of the true stars and deserves his spot near the top.

kyle tucker fantasy baseball rankings MLB news draft sleepers DFS lineup picks

Robert Jr. (11) is a fantastic talent who has been derailed by injuries and has yet to be able to put those talents on display for a full year. Never one to take many walks, if he could push his BB% closer to 5.5%, it would do wonders for his stolen base opportunities. Most projection systems have him reaching that walk rate this year but falling short of 20 steals. If he can stay healthy and obtain a 5.5% walk rate, he should reach 20 steals to go with 20+ homers. Like Tucker, he’s young, just 25, and should be able to put his best seasons ahead of him. He’s a career .289 hitter and is a true five-category contributor in a good lineup.

Chourio (23) played his age-18 season at Double-A last season, though it was just six games. But he moved up three levels in the year and took a big jump in most dynasty rankings as well. He played in the Futures Game last season and went from being outside of the top 100 to ranked as high as third by Baseball America. He had a ridiculous .276 ISO in Single-A, connecting for 12 home runs in 62 games. He does have some swing-and-miss to his game, striking out 28% of the time at Single-A, but the power-speed combo is tantalizing. If he can keep up the pace, he’ll be competing for a spot in the Milwaukee outfield next season and will be there for years to come.

Thomas (39) played in 113 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks last season but hit .231 with eight home runs and four stolen bases. It wasn’t a good debut for the talented youngster, but he still has a lot of time to make up for the slow start to his career. He walked a lot in the minors, but that number took a hit as well in his first taste of the bigs. His 2.6 launch angle and 3.8%-barrel rate leave a ton to be desired. He has a lot of work to do to get back to the status he had before last season, but he has all the tools to do it. Don’t give up on him yet.

Other Options

Dominguez (55) made it to Double-A at age-19 last season, playing in five games. He played in three levels and continues to look like the center fielder of the future for the New York Yankees. He may not have the same ceiling as thought when the Yankees first signed him, that of Mike Trout or Mickey Mantle, but the Martian has all the makings of a dynasty star. He has an incredible eye for someone who has only been playing organized baseball going on three years. His prodigious power is just starting to show up in games as he learns how to lift the ball more. He stole 37 bases last season, and his power-speed combo will be fun to watch for a long time.

Nootbar (58) hits the ball hard. He hits the ball on the barrel, and he walks a lot without striking out a ton. For those reasons, I think Nootbar has his best baseball ahead of him. At age-25 he has a lot more to accomplish before he becomes a top outfield option, but I think he’s someone who could be of great value towards the end of your outfield. He’s someone who may not cost a lot to acquire now, and a breakout is possibly on the way. He won’t be of considerable help in the average department, but if he can raise his BABIP to league-average levels, he won’t be hurting you there anymore either. His 125 wRC+ was a solid number and that should improve in the future once he starts getting more at-bats, 2022 was the first time he’d ever topped 60 games at one level.

That will do it for our outfield rankings and the hitter rankings overall. We've gone through each position to give you extensive lists of great options for your dynasty squads. Hopefully, they help you now and in the future and you can look back to RotoBaller to get your fix.
