Should I drop Michael Carter for fantasy football Week 7? Is Michael Carter a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.
There's a lot of power behind one post from an NFL insider.
On Sunday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that Arizona Cardinals running back Michael Carter was not expected to lead the team's backfield during Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts. His projection on fantasy platforms dropped, and several managers shuffled Carter to their bench.
While Carter wasn't completely phased out of the offensive game plan, his role did change from the previous week. So, is Carter safe to release back to the waiver wire? Let's dive in.

Should I Drop Michael Carter in Fantasy Football?
Michael Carter was technically Arizona's starting running back in Week 6, but his opportunities (11) were cut in half from the previous week (23). Bam Knight got one more touch (12) and 11 carries, including one on the goal line.

Carter, a practice squad player to begin the season, was only going to be valuable for fantasy football with volume. That was the case in Week 5, immediately filling in for injured running backs James Conner (ankle) and Trey Benson (knee). With Knight in the fold, it may be the end of Carter's brief stint being relevant.
The Cardinals have one more game, against a top-five Green Bay run defense, before they take their bye week. Then, there's one game against the Dallas Cowboys, before Benson is eligible to return from injured reserve. Unless you have a deep bench, Carter isn't worth holding through the Week 8 bye.
Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?
Kimani Vidal is the Week 7 running back prize. If he wasn't picked up during waivers last week, he should be added across the board this week. He ran all over the Miami Dolphins, to the tune of 124 yards on 18 attempts. He also scored in the passing game.

Vidal was the answer to who gets the most touches between him and Hassan Haskins, while Omarion Hampton (ankle) recovers on injured reserve. Don't expect that boom every week. It was, after all, against the dreadful Miami run defense, but Vidal is a startable asset unless the Chargers add another body to the backfield.
The aforementioned Bam Knight, who is getting the opportunities when the Cardinals are nearing the endzone, can be useful against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. The Week 8 matchup against Green Bay has 40 yards without a touchdown written all over it.
Keep an eye on Tyjae Spears. The Tennessee offense is a mess, but Spears has nine touches compared to 12 for starter Tony Pollard. Spears was also on the field for more snaps than his backfield counterpart. Week 6 was Spears' second game of the season after beginning the year on injured reserve.
