Yankees Resting Giancarlo Stanton Against Mariners
1 year agoNew York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton will not start on Wednesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. It's a good time for Stanton to take a day off, as he's gone hitless with seven strikeouts in 11 at-bats in his last three games. The 33-year-old All-Star slugger has six home runs in only 26 games this year because of missed time due to injury, but he's batting a lackluster .196 (19-for-97) with six walks and 28 punchouts in 105 trips to the plate for the Yanks. With Stanton getting a rest day, Willie Calhoun will serve as the team's designated hitter while batting in the three-hole against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo.
