Tyquan Thornton Exceeding Expectations, Gaining Chemistry With Patrick Mahomes
Tyquan Thornton has exceeded expectations through the first three weeks of the 2025 season and "has been a larger contributor for the offense than anyone on the team could have expected when the season began three weeks ago," according to ESPN's Nate Taylor. Thornton led the team with five catches for a career-high 71 yards in Sunday night's win over the New York Giants, including a touchdown. The 25-year-old has stepped up with Rashee Rice suspended and Xavier Worthy (shoulder) injured, and he's quickly developed strong chemistry with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. KC has used Thornton's speed to exploit man-to-man coverages, and Mahomes has completed a deep pass to him in all three games. Mahomes is averaging 25.2 air yards when targeting Thornton. Although Thornton's role will almost certainly shrink when the Chiefs get both Rice and Worthy back, the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder deserves a look on the waiver wire right now for those hurting at the receiver position. He's rostered in only 4% of Yahoo leagues.
