The Kansas City Royals have released right-handed reliever Chris Stratton, according to the transaction log on his MLB.com profile. The 34-year-old had been designated for assignment on Sunday. He struggled through 17 innings out of the bullpen this season, posting a 7.94 ERA. The hurler's 4.75 xERA indicates that he may have gotten unlucky, but was still unreliable. His 4.24 BB/9 and 1.06 HR/9 rates were also far from ideal. Stratton's status as a veteran reliever could land him a low-risk deal elsewhere this season, though he may have to prove himself at the Triple-A level first.
