Red Sox, James Paxton Confident He'll Start Friday
1 year agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that left-hander James Paxton (knee), who left his last start on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox early due to right-knee soreness, is "feeling well" after getting treatment. "Everything is lined up for him to start on Friday [against the Blue Jays]," Cora said. "We'll see how he keeps reacting to the treatment. But that's where we're at right now." The 34-year-old southpaw was beginning to feel it in his knee in his previous start on June 19 against the Minnesota Twins, but he's feeling better now and should be good to go later this week against Toronto. Paxton got a late start to the 2023 season due to injury, but the veteran Canadian has been solid with a 3.19 ERA (3.41 FIP), 1.02 WHIP, 11 walks and 54 K's in 42 1/3 innings over his eight starts so far.
