Rays Decline Options On Charlie Morton, Mike Zunino
Charlie Morton and catcher Mike Zunino on Friday, according to general manager Erik Neander. Both players will become free agents, but Neander said the team will keep the door open for them to return. Morton went 2-2 with a 4.74 ERA in nine regular season starts, but the veteran right-hander pitched much better in the playoffs during the team's World Series run. Zunino hit a lowly .147 with four home runs and 10 RBI in the regular season, but the 29-year-old managed to hit four homers and drive in eight runs in the playoffs. Morton will be making the decision this offseason on whether to retire or continue playing for another season.
