Devin Williams Earns Save on Thursday
Devin Williams preserved a 1-0 win over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday. Williams fired a perfect ninth inning while striking out one to earn his ninth save of the season. The veteran reliever got off to a rough start this season but has improved as the year has gone on, posting a 1.98 ERA over his past 15 appearances, spanning 13 2/3 innings of work. Overall, Williams has a 2-2 record, 5.68 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts over 25 1/3 innings of work on the year. He should remain a top-notch fantasy closer going forward.Source: MLB.com
New York Yankees right-hander Jett Williams Stays Hot on Thursday
Jett Williams continued to swing a hot bat on Thursday. During their contest against Double-A Richmond, Williams went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two triples, a stolen base, and two RBI. Williams has tallied at least one hit in each of his last four games and posted three multi-hit games during this stretch. Over his last seven games, Williams has only gone hitless once and held an impressive .552/.633/1.130 line with four doubles, two triples, two home runs, and a stolen base. Through 52 games with Double-A this season, the top-ranked prospect in Queens has posted a strong .298/.407/.530 slash line with 16 doubles, four triples, and six long balls. Given his steady progress, Williams will likely move up to Triple-A in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com
New York Mets infield prospect Will Vest Earns Save on Thursday
Will Vest slammed the door on the Baltimore Orioles to earn the save in a 4-1 win on Thursday. Vest tossed a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two while not allowing a hit on 19 pitches to pick up his 12th save of the season. The veteran reliever has run away with the closer's role in Detroit after they opened the year with a committee. Vest now has a 5-0 record, 1.83 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts over 34 1/3 innings of work while blowing only two saves. With the Tigers leading the AL Central, Vest should continue to see plenty of save chances going forward.Source: MLB.com
Detroit Tigers right-hander Miguel Vargas Doubles Twice, Triples in Loss to Houston
Miguel Vargas had a big day in his team's 4-3 loss to the Houston Astros on Thursday. Vargas went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, a walk, and two runs scored in the one-run loss. The veteran has been a productive bat for the Sox this season, hitting .242 with 17 doubles, one triple, nine homers, 32 runs, 30 RBI, and two stolen bases across 240 at-bats. After hitting under .200 in each of his previous three seasons, this season's modest breakout is a welcome sight for Vargas and fantasy gamers. He has worked his way into the conversation as a viable reserve corner infield option in most fantasy leagues.Source: MLB.com
Chicago White Sox third baseman Kevin Durant Deal Could Come Sooner Rather Than Later
Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, and Miami Heat. The insider said that there is traction towards getting a deal done soon, and that the deal could get done ahead of the NBA Draft in a few weeks. Durant is on an expiring contract and could either be viewed as a one-year "rental" player or be given a longer-term deal. If he is traded, Durant will be eligible to sign a two-year, $112 million extension with his new team in July. Knicks' and Spurs' reporters have downplayed the likelihood of Durant landing with those teams, but the Heat seem to be legitimately interested, according to Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel.Source: Shams Charania
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Phoenix Suns are focused on trading forward Owen Caissie Goes Deep in Third Straight Game
Owen Caissie went deep in his third-straight game during the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday against Triple-A Louisville. In this contest, Caissie went 2-for-3 with a home run and a stolen base. However, in the second game, he saw his impressive power streak come to an end as he went 1-for-3 with a double. Over his last 18 games, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the Cubs' system has been swinging a hot bat, holding a stellar .328/.416/.582 slash line with eight doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI, and two stolen bases. Through 54 total games, Caissie has posted a .262/.366/.510 line with 16 doubles and 10 long balls. Given his steady progression at Triple-A, Caissie should be in the mix to reach the majors this season. However, given the depth in the Chicago outfield, he will likely need to wait for an injury.Source: MiLB.com
Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Josh Smith Homers in Blowout Win
Josh Smith had a big day in his team's 16-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Smith went 2-for-5 with a homer, a walk, three runs, and one RBI in the lopsided victory. The veteran infielder kicked off the scoring in the game with a leadoff homer off Twins starter Bailey Ober. Smith is now hitting .279 with six homers, 26 runs, 19 RBI, and eight stolen bases across 208 at-bats for the Rangers this season. He has been hot over the past week, batting .393 with a homer and three RBI in his past seven contests. Smith has settled in as a solid, if unspectacular, fantasy option in most leagues.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers shortstop Mickey Moniak Homers in Win Over Giants
Mickey Moniak had a productive game in his team's 8-7 win over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Moniak went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs scored to help down San Francisco in the comeback victory. The veteran outfielder was a key part of the comeback as he cut the Giants' lead to 7-3 with his solo homer in the sixth inning. Moniak is now batting .227 with seven homers, 21 runs, 18 RBI, and two stolen bases across 163 at-bats this season. He is on a modest hot streak, with a .278 average and two homers over his past seven contests.Source: MLB.com
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kevin McGonigle Tallies Four Hits on Thursday
Kevin McGonigle went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run during their contest against High-A Lansing on Thursday evening. McGonigle has continued to swing a hot bat since moving up to High-A. Through 18 games with High-A West Michigan this season, the No. 2-ranked prospect in Detroit has posted a stellar .394/.488/.704 slash line with 13 doubles, three home runs, and a 12:13 K:BB. He began the season on the injured list and spent a six-game stint with Low-A during his rehab assignment, and hit a .235/.350/.352 line. Last summer, the No. 26-ranked prospect in baseball made his High-A debut but struggled during his first 14 games, posting a mere .214 AVG with a .725 OPS. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor McGonigle's progression as he will likely earn the call to Double-A in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com
Detroit Tigers infield prospect Thairo Estrada Picks Up Two Doubles, Two RBI on Thursday
Thairo Estrada was a key part of his team's 8-7 win over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Estrada went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and two RBI to help down the Giants in the contest. The veteran infielder ripped a two-run double to cut the Giants' lead to 7-5 in the seventh inning. He later came around to score the game-tying run following his second double of the evening. Estrada is now hitting .261 with five doubles, four runs, and seven RBI across 46 at-bats this season. With two seasons of 21 or more stolen bases under his belt, Estrada has some potential in fantasy if he can work his way into an everyday role with the Rockies.Source: MLB.com
Colorado Rockies second baseman Noah Schultz Strikes Out Seven on Thursday
Noah Schultz tossed 5 2/3 shutout innings during his latest start on Thursday against Double-A Montgomery. In this outing, the left-hander struck out seven batters and allowed just one hit. He served up five walks. Since allowing five runs on May 18, Schultz has been one of the most dominant arms at the Double-A level. During this stretch, the No. 13-ranked prospect in the sport has held a stellar 1.31 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP. Across these 20 2/3 innings, Schultz has struck out 19 batters but struggled with his command, allowing 13 free passes. Through 56 2/3 total innings this season, Schultz has held a 3.34 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status as he will likely be in the mix to reach Triple-A later this season.Source: MiLB.com
Chicago White Sox left-handed pitching prospect Dylan Carlson Homers in Loss to Tigers
Dylan Carlson was one of the lone bright spots in his team's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. Carlson went 3-for-3 with a solo homer to provide Baltimore's only run in the loss. He ruined the Tigers' shutout with a solo blast in the eighth inning, a shot that traveled 408 feet with an exit velocity of 103.8 MPH. Carlson is now hitting .247 with four homers, seven runs, 12 RBI, and one steal across 73 at-bats this season. He has been swinging a hot bat since a quiet start to the season, hitting .333 with four homers and 10 RBI over his past 15 games, spanning 51 at-bats. He's worth a look as an add in deeper leagues while he's hot at the plate.Source: MLB.com
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Bryce Eldridge Goes Deep on Thursday
Bryce Eldridge went 1-for-4 with a home run during their contest against Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday evening. This was Eldridge's second home run since moving up to Triple-A. Through his first eight games with Sacramento this season, Eldridge has struggled, holding a .138/.235/.345 line with a 12:4 K:BB. He received a brief taste of Triple-A last season as well, and posted a .258/.343/.258 line across eight contests. At the start of the season, Eldridge was with Double-A and looked quite comfortable as he held a .280/.350/.512 line with eight doubles, seven home runs, and a 39:13 K:BB. If the top-ranked prospect in the San Francisco system can build off this outing, he could be in the mix to reach the majors early in the second half.Source: MiLB.com
San Francisco Giants first base prospect Jose Altuve Doubles Twice, Steals a Base in Win on Thursday
Jose Altuve turned in a productive game in his team's 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. Altuve went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, a run, two RBI, and a stolen base in the one-run win. The veteran notched one of the key at-bats of the game when he gave Houston a 2-1 lead with a two-run double in the third inning. Altuve is now hitting .275 with nine doubles, nine homers, 32 runs, 27 RBI, and six stolen bases across 255 at-bats for the Astros this season. He has fallen off since his prime and is more of a reserve option in deeper fantasy leagues these days.Source: MLB.com
Houston Astros outfielder Sam Haggerty Homers in Blowout Win on Thursday
Sam Haggerty was not in the initial starting lineup but made his mark in a 16-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Haggerty hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer in his only at-bat in the lopsided win. The veteran pinch-hit for Marcus Semien and launched a three-run shot in the ninth inning, a blast that gave the Rangers their final runs of the game. Haggerty is now hitting .268 with two homers, 13 runs, nine RBI, and five stolen bases across 71 at-bats for the Rangers this season. As a part-time player, Haggerty isn't on the radar in fantasy leagues.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers outfielder Ryan Pressly Picks Up Save on Thursday
Ryan Pressly picked up a save in his team's 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Pressly tossed a scoreless ninth inning without allowing a baserunner on the way to earning his fifth save in as many chances for the Cubs. It was the 36-year-old's first save since April as the Cubs have turned to Daniel Palencia, who pitched the eighth, as their preferred closer. Pressly now has a 2-2 record, 3.81 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts over 26 innings of work this season. It is likely that the Cubs were just playing the matchups with Pressly and Palencia flipping roles on Thursday. Look for Pressly to return to his setup role moving forward.Source: MLB.com
Chicago Cubs right-hander Dominic Smith Homers, Drives in Three on Thursday
Dominic Smith had a big night in his team's 8-7 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Thursday. Smith went 3-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two runs, and three RBI but it wasn't quite enough in the one-run loss. The veteran launched a three-run homer in the fifth inning to push the Giants' lead to 7-2. Smith signed with the Giants in early June after the New York Yankees released him. He has appeared in eight games, hitting .320 with one homer, three runs, seven RBI, and one stolen base. He will look to stay hot as he gets more at-bats under his belt this season.Source: MLB.com
San Francisco Giants first baseman Robert Gasser to Face Live Hitters This Week
Robert Gasser (elbow) is scheduled to face hitters in a live batting practice session in Arizona this week. Gasser, the team's No. 11 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will be facing hitters for the first time this week since having Tommy John surgery last June. The 26-year-old southpaw will be brought along slowly before eventually going on what will be a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment. Even if Gasser doesn't have any setbacks along the way, he probably won't be able to return to the big-league starting rotation until later in the season. He went 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 16:1 K:BB in his first five major-league starts last year before getting hurt. For fantasy purposes, he won't really be a valuable contributor until next season, when he should have a great shot to win a rotation spot out of spring training as long as he's healthy.Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Curt Hogg
Milwaukee Brewers left-handed pitching prospect Blake Perkins Scheduled to Start Rehab Assignment on June 25
Blake Perkins (shin) is scheduled to report to Triple-A Nashville on June 25 to start his minor-league rehab assignment. Perkins has had a slow go of it during his rehab from a fractured right shin that has kept him out for the entire 2025 season. The 28-year-old is getting close to playing in games again, but that doesn't mean that he'll be ready to rejoin the major-league roster before the All-Star break in mid-July. Perkins, a switch-hitter, was originally a second-round pick by the Washington Nationals in 2015. He made his big-league debut in 2023 with Milwaukee and has hit .234 (123-for-526) with 10 home runs, 63 RBI, 82 runs and 28 stolen bases in 188 games in his two big-league seasons. Given Milwaukee's crowded outfield, the defense-first Perkins figure to be a bench bat with plenty of speed to spare when he comes off the injured list.Source: Brewer Fanatic - Jack Stern
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that outfielder Adael Amador Hits Three-Run Homer on Thursday
Adael Amador went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Thursday's 9-8 win over Triple-A Oklahoma City. Amador has been highly productive all season, hitting .306/.394/.482 with four homers and four steals in 99 plate appearances. The 22-year-old was promoted to the majors on April 13 and spent 33 games with the club. He struggled a bit, as he produced just a .465 OPS. Amador has strong contact skills and speed with some pop and should be expected to return to the majors shortly. He'd make for a solid add for managers in need of some stolen bases.Source: MiLB.com
Colorado Rockies second base prospect Jacob Misiorowski Pulled With Cramps
Jacob Misiorowski (calf, quadriceps) was pulled from his major-league debut on Thursday night against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals with cramping in his right calf and quadriceps, according to the team. Despite the cramping issues, Misiorowski dazzled in his debut, throwing five shutout and no-hit innings with four walks and five strikeouts to pick up his first MLB win. The 23-year-old is the club's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and should be able to make his next scheduled start for the Brew Crew. If he isn't already rostered in your league, it's time to scoop him up off the waiver wire. The 6-foot-7, 197-pounder is easily one of the best pitching prospects in the game, with his fastball, curveball and slider all capable of generating plenty of swings and misses.Source: The Athletic - Katie Woo
Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitching prospect Alex Freeland Homers on Thursday
Alex Freeland went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, double, and two additional runs scored on Thursday against Triple-A Albuquerque. Freeland was on base four times in this one as he tacked on two walks to stuff the box score. The 23-year-old has had an interesting month of June so far, as he is only hitting .171, but has more walks than strikeouts. His BABIP is just .143 for the month so far, and he is hitting the ball hard at 40.9 percent, so he has just been a bit unlucky. Freeland has good power and a sound approach and should be expected to be promoted to the majors at some point this summer. Depending on what his playing time looks like, he would be a solid speculative add in deeper formats.Source: MiLB.com
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop prospect Samuel Basallo Blasts Homer on Thursday
Samuel Basallo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Thursday against Triple-A Nashville. Basallo has gone ballistic in June, smashing five homers in seven games. He is hitting .333/.438/.889 in 32 plate appearances. The 20-year-old has an incredible combination of raw power and contact ability, and he's also improved his walk rate significantly this season. The top prospect leads Triple-A in barrel rate at 22.9 percent and doesn't have too much left to prove in the minors. With the Orioles' lineup getting healthier, Basallo may not be up in the near term, but maybe around the trade deadline is a fair target time. He would be a priority add in virtually all formats.Source: MiLB.com
Baltimore Orioles catcher prospect Seiya Suzuki Swats 17th Home Run
Seiya Suzuki cracked one of the club's two home runs in a 3-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Suzuki went deep against left-hander Andrew Heaney in the bottom of the sixth inning for his 17th HR and 57th RBI of the season. He finished the evening 1-for-3 and is now slashing a strong .266/.325/.548 in 289 plate appearances. Suzuki averaged 20 homers and 73 RBI over the previous two seasons, but he's on pace to surpass those numbers with ease in 2025. The 30-year-old will face a difficult test Friday against Pirates star righty Paul Skenes. Suzuki is 3-for-11 with a homer, four strikeouts, and a walk against the ace.Source: ESPN
Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong Goes Yard in Victory
Pete Crow-Armstrong homered Thursday to help the club to a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Crow-Armstrong snapped a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run jack against left-hander Andrew Heaney. The breakout star finished the night 1-for-3 and upped his line to .271/.305/.554 with 18 homers, 51 RBI, and 21 steals in 288 plate appearances. Crow-Armstrong has had the overwhelming majority of his success versus right-handed pitchers, so it was encouraging to see him pick up his fourth round-tripper of the year against a southpaw. He'll face an ace righty, the Pirates' Paul Skenes, on Friday. Crow-Armstrong has gone 2-for-8 with an RBI and two strikeouts in their matchups.Source: ESPN
Chicago Cubs outfielder Brady House Goes Deep on Thursday
Brady House went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's 6-4 loss against Triple-A Jacksonville. The 22-year-old has been on fire so far in June with a 1.026 OPS and three home runs. It is worth noting, however, that he has yet to take a walk in June and is still striking out over 30 percent of the time. The slugger has held strong quality of contact metrics with a 46.6 percent hard-hit rate and 10.3 percent barrel rate, and should be receiving a promotion to the majors at some point this summer. He is ranked as the number 91 overall prospect on MLB.com and would be worthy of a speculative add in most formats.Source: MiLB.com
Washington Nationals third base prospect Framber Valdez Punches Out 12 in Win
Framber Valdez (7-4) mowed down the Chicago White Sox on Thursday to collect his seventh win of the season. The Astros pulled out a 4-3 victory thanks in large part to Valdez, who struck out 12 over five innings of two-run ball. He scattered seven hits, issued just one walk, and generated 20 whiffs during the 95-pitch outing. Fresh off back-to-back starts of double-digit strikeouts, the 31-year-old boasts a 96:28 K:BB and a 3.10 ERA over 90 frames. Valdez has logged seven straight quality starts and will attempt to extend that streak Wednesday against the Athletics.Source: ESPN
Houston Astros left-hander Chase Burns Fans Seven in Triple-A Debut
Chase Burns allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out seven across 5 1/3 innings against Triple-A Iowa. The four walks were the most in a game this season for the right-hander. He still generated plenty of whiffs, with 13 on 37 swings. Adjusting to the automatic balls and strikes system used at Triple-A will be something to monitor with Burns. The flamethrower eviscerated hitters over his last seven starts in Double-A with an absurd 34.8 percent K-BB rate. He is currently ranked as the No. 11 overall prospect on MLB.com and should be expected to make his debut sometime this summer. He would be a priority add in virtually all fantasy formats when that happens.Source: MiLB.com
Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Isaac Paredes Homers, Exits Early With Hamstring Injury
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) hit a key home run to help the club to a 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. Paredes' solo blast, his team-leading 15th of the year, gave the Astros a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. He ended the night 1-for-3 before Mauricio Dubon replaced him at third base in the top of the eighth. Manager Joe Espada announced after the game that Paredes departed with a left-hamstring issue, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic. The Astros will have more information on Paredes on Friday. The 26-year-old has emerged as a major part of the Astros' offense this season with a .255/.353/.478 slash line, 42 RBI, and a career-high 12.3% walk rate in 292 plate appearances. The hope is that he won't require a stint on the injured list.Source: Chandler Rome - The Athletic
Houston Astros third baseman Jackson Chourio Homers in Win Over Cardinals
Jackson Chourio slugged his 12th home run of the year in a 6-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Chourio's two-run homer, a 410-footer against right-hander Sonny Gray, capped off a five-run fifth inning for the Brew Crew. It was his only hit in a 1-for-4 night. The 21-year-old is batting a middling .257/.282/.453 with a microscopic 3.2% walk rate in 308 plate appearances, but he's still racking up impressive counting stats. Chourio burst on the scene as a rookie in 2024 with 21 homers, 22 stolen bases, 79 RBI, and 80 runs scored in 148 games. Along with his dozen HRs this year, he has already amassed 41 RBI, 13 steals, and 41 runs in 69 contests. He'll attempt to add to those totals Friday against Cardinals starter Erick Fedde. Chourio has collected just one hit in seven at-bats against the right-hander.Source: ESPN
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder
