ESPN's Dan Graziano predicts that Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith will be the New York Jets' pick to be their next head coach. Graziano also mentions Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores as top picks for the Jets job, but they are also favorites with the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears, respectively. Smith was a candidate for New York's head-coach job back in 2021 as well before they decided on Robert Saleh, and he was a candidate for their offensive staff last year before he was hired in Pittsburgh. The Jets have a long list of head-coach candidates, but owner Woody Johnson has been known to lock in on his personal favorites, and Smith is a name that he has liked for a while. In his first season with the Steelers, Smith did an impressive job with limited weapons.

ESPN's Dan Graziano predicts that Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady will become the Jacksonville Jaguars' next head coach after Doug Pederson was fired following a 22-29 record in his three years on the job. Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson could be in the running as well, but the Jaguars' decision to move on from Pederson and retain general manager Trent Baalke has raised red flags for potential head-coach candidates that want to start with a clean slate like Johnson. Brady led the Bills offense to 29.5 points per game in 2024 and into a Super Bowl contender in his first full year on the job. Graziano mentions former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh as a sleeper in Jacksonville. Saleh spent three years as the team's linebackers coach on Gus Bradley's staff from 2014-16, so he has familiarity with the organization.

ESPN's Dan Graziano predicts that Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores will be the Chicago Bears' next head coach. It's a pure guess, though, and Flores still hasn't interviewed with the Bears. However, Flores' name keeps coming up when Graziano asked those around the league to make a prediction for Chicago's head-coach job. He has been a popular head-coaching candidate after leading the No. 5 scoring defense in 2024. The Vikings also were tied for fourth with 49 sacks. Flores is also a top candidate for the New York Jets' head-coach position, but there will be questions about his past relationship with quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa when he was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. The clear connection for him in Chicago is that both Flores and general manager Ryan Poles went to Boston College.

NFL Network's Jane Slater reports that former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is a candidate for Dallas' open head-coaching position. In addition to Witten, Slater mentions former defensive back and current University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as candidates for the head-coach job. Slater believes that if Dallas had retained Mike McCarthy on a short-term deal, Witten might have joined the staff as an heir apparent to take over for McCarthy. Former New England Patriots head coach and current University of North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick is expected to be an option as well for Jones. Witten has been the head coach at Liberty Christian School in Texas for the last four years but has no other coaching experience, which makes him a long shot for the Cowboys' head-coach job.

According to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, Washington Commanders kicker
Zane Gonzalez (hip) was limited during Tuesday's practice. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout the week, but seeing him open the week as a limited participant suggests this injury is relatively minor. Gonzalez played the hero in their victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday evening as he went 3-for-3 on attempts, including a game-winning field goal as time expired from 37 yards out. With
Austin Seibert (groin) on the injured reserve, Gonzalez has continued to operate as the No.1 option in the DMV. Across his previous four games, he has gone 5-for-5 on field goals and 11-for-11 on extra points. He remains a solid option in fantasy competitions this weekend, playing on a potent Washington offense.

SNY's Connor Hughes reports that former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is highly unlikely to return as the head coach in 2025 and beyond. One source said there is no chance it happens. Ryan did guide the Jets to their last two playoff appearances, but it was with a team that Eric Mangini had built, and the roster began to deteriorate once Ryan took over. After their 11-5 campaign in 2010, New York didn't have a winning season under Ryan as the head coach for the next four years and were known for being one of the most undisciplined teams in the NFL. In his two seasons as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, he did not make the postseason, and he hasn't coached in the league since 2016. It was always considered a long shot that Ryan would become the next Jets head coach.

SNY's Connor Hughes writes that there's plenty of buzz around the league right now regarding Ryan Grigson becoming the New York Jets' next general manager, with Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores becoming the next coach and Vikings quarterbacks coach Josh McCown becoming the next offensive coordinator. A source with the Vikings said that's been talked about in their building. It's just speculation right now, as the Jets' front-office executives in charge of the GM and head-coaching search are keeping things close to the vest. In addition to Flores, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is a top candidate for the head-coach gig, although he's also the favorite to land the head-coaching position with the New Orleans Saints. Flores has previous head-coaching experience and could be a perfect candidate to change the culture in New York.

Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is expected to interview with the New Orleans Saints next week for their vacant head-coach job, according to sources. After being let go by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, McCarthy will also interview for the Chicago Bears' head-coach job this Wednesday. Outside of the 2019 season, the 61-year-old McCarthy has been a head coach in the NFL since 2006 and won a Super Bowl title with the Green Bay Packers, so he is going to be in high demand now that he's on the open coaching market. He went 125-77 with nine playoff appearances during his 13 seasons in Green Bay and went 49-35 with three playoff appearances in his five years in Dallas. McCarthy has gone .500 (11-11) in 22 career playoff games. He also spent five years with the Saints (2000-04) as their offensive coordinator, so he has some history in New Orleans.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant general manager John Spytek is scheduled for a second interview this week for the Las Vegas Raiders' general manager job, according to a source. In addition to the Raiders, Spytek will receive a second interview for the GM position with the Tennessee Titans. The Raiders are looking to replace Tom Telesco after he was fired after just one year on the job in Vegas. In addition to Spytek, the Raiders have also asked to speak with Green Bay Packers executive Jon-Eric Sullivan. Spytek is very familiar with NFL legend
Tom Brady, who is now a minority owner of the Raiders. Spytek has spent the last nine years with the Bucs and was around when Brady led the team to a Super Bowl title. Spytek also played at Michigan at the same time that Brady did, which could give him a leg up for the job.

The New York Jets requested an interview with Washington Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. for their head-coach opening, according to sources. It's the first head-coach interview for the 46-year-old, who followed Commanders head coach Dan Quinn from the Dallas Cowboys. Whitt has been an integral part of Washington's turnaround this year and put together a masterful game plan to slow down quarterback
Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense in the wild-card win on Sunday night. Before going to D.C., Whitt spent the last three years as the passing-game coordinator and secondary coach in Dallas. Before that, he worked in similar roles with the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. Before requesting to speak with Whitt, the Jets have already interviewed nine candidates for their head-coaching position.

The Tennessee Titans are bringing back several candidates for a second round of interviews for their vacant general manager job, including Kansas City Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi, Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant GM John Spytek, Chicago Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham, Indianapolis Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds and Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan. Buffalo Bills executive Terrance Gray is also expected to get a second interview in Tennessee. During their first round of interviews for the GM job, the Titans also talked with Miami Dolphins senior personnel executive Reggie McKenzie, former Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, Seattle Seahawks senior director of player personnel Matt Berry and Cleveland Browns assistant GM/vice president of football operations Catherine Hickman.

As recently as last week, there was a feeling inside the Las Vegas Raiders' team headquarters that owner Mark Davis would give head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco another year to figure things out after a 4-13 finish in 2024. However, seven-time Super Bowl-champion
Tom Brady, who purchased 5% of the team last October, felt a total reset was needed and persuaded Davis to fire both Pierce and Telesco. "This is Tom's show now," a person with knowledge of the situation said. Davis will make the final call on decisions for the franchise, but Davis wants Brady to have a "huge" voice and has a lot of trust in him. By firing Telesco, the Raiders have made the head-coach job more attractive to potential coaches, and the Raiders are willing to consider a package deal if their top coaching candidates have preferred front-office leaders in mind.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is a name to watch for the head-coach opening for the Dallas Cowboys after they parted ways with Mike McCarthy on Monday. Dallas' head-coaching immediately becomes one of the most coveted positions in football given Dallas' roster, most notably with quarterback
Dak Prescott (hamstring) and wide receiver
CeeDee Lamb. CBS' Jonathan Jones speculates that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could try to get former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to leave the University of North Carolina to return to the NFL for Dallas' job. Moore spent eight years in Dallas as a player and coach, including four seasons as their offensive coordinator. He was the coordinator when the Cowboys led the NFL in points and yards per game in 2021.

After parting ways with head coach Mike McCarthy on Monday, the Dallas Cowboys will quickly move on to trying to find his replacement this offseason, and CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reports that University of North Carolina head coach and former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick could be at the top of owner Jerry Jones' wish list. Belichick and Jones have had a good relationship over the decades, and sources indicated that Belichick had interest in the Dallas head-coach job if it should open up. Belichick is now the head coach for the Tar Heels, but he has a $10 million buyout if he were to leave UNC before June 1. The buyout drops to $1 million after June 1 of this year. If Dallas is willing to wait, they could also be interested in Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who already interviewed with the Patriots, Jaguars, Raiders and Bears for their head-coach jobs over the weekend.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that the New Orleans Saints are expected to have interest in Mike McCarthy for their head-coach opening after the Dallas Cowboys chose not to extend him a new contract. The Chicago Bears requested to interview McCarthy last week, but the Cowboys declined the request. Now that McCarthy is now a free agent, he'll most likely interview with the Bears and Saints, with other teams potentially jumping into the mix. During his five seasons as the head coach of the Cowboys, McCarthy went 49-35, but his 1-3 record in the postseason was his undoing. With a Super Bowl ring to his name as a member of the Green Bay Packers, teams looking for a head coach moving forward should have plenty of interest in McCarthy. Stay tuned for more news on interview requests for the veteran coach.
