Miguel Sano Out Until May
6 years agoMinnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano (Achilles) underwent a wound debridement on the laceration in his right lower Achilles on Tuesday and is expected to stay at the Mayo Clinic for two to three days while the wound is aggressively treated. The Twins don't expect the slugger to begin baseball activity until mid-April, meaning he won't realistically play in the big leagues until May. As a result, infielder Marwin Gonzalez will likely slot in as the starting third baseman to start the season. While it'll be tough for Gonzalez to match his career year in 2017, this news gives him a little more early season appeal in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. While Sano might still be worth a late-round flier in deep mixed and AL-only leagues for his power, it's another disappointing development after his lost 2018 season.
