Kenta Maeda Goes On IL, Bailey Ober Called Up To Start
2 years agoThe Minnesota Twins placed starting pitcher Kenta Maeda (triceps) on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with a right-triceps strain and recalled right-hander Bailey Ober from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Things haven't gone well for Maeda early in 2023 in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. He has a 9.00 ERA after four starts and is now on the shelf after leaving his last start early on Thursday against the Yankees. There's no timeline for when he'll be able to return at this point. Ober is getting the nod on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals and will take Maeda's rotation spot for now. Ober had a successful spot start against the Nationals last week and has been pitching well in the minors. The 27-year-old makes for a decent streaming option against KC.
