Jurickson Profar To Play In World Baseball Classic
2 years agoFree-agent outfielder Jurickson Profar will play for Team Netherlands in the 2023 World Baseball Classic despite remaining on the open market. Profar could attract more interest before the 2023 regular season if he plays well in the tournament. The 30-year-old switch-hitter also has plenty of experience in the infield, but he was mostly an outfield regular for the San Diego Padres in 2022. In 152 games played, he hit .243/.331/.391 with a .723 OPS, 15 home runs, 58 RBI, 82 runs scored and five stolen bases in 658 plate appearances for the Friars. At this point, it seems unlikely that Profar will be able to find an everyday starting role in the outfield for a team unless an injury opens up a spot.
