Francisco Cervelli Not Experiencing Concussion Symptoms
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli (concussion) no longer has concussion symptoms, according to director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk. However, Cervelli has yet to be cleared to begin working out, although that could change when he visits with a specialist later this week. The backstop has been out since he was hit on the back of the head by a broken bat on May 25 against the Dodgers. He was hitting just .193 (21-for-109) with one homer and five RBI on the year before his injury, too, so Cervelli belongs on the waiver wire in most formats. Elias Diaz has been the starting catcher in the meantime and has performed enough to be an option in two-catcher leagues.
