1 year agoSan Diego Padres starter Eric Lauer took his fifth loss after allowing six runs (three earned) Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lauer was a victim of some shoddy defense but wasn't sharp in this one, ceding nine hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out three on the night. The 23-year-old rookie was looking to build on five consecutive strong starts but Friday was a setback. As a result of the unearned runs, Lauer's ERA nudges up from 5.05 to 5.08 while holding a 1.76 WHIP and 7.8 K/9. He'll face off against the Oakland Athletics this Wednesday on July 4.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
