Dee Delaney Has Been Starting At Nickel Corner
1 year agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers have three defensive backs vying for the starting nickelback job this year that has been vacated with Antoine Winfield Jr. moving back to free safety. Veteran Dee Delaney has been the starter throughout the offseason program, and he's seen game action at nickel, outside cornerback and safety in his career. Sixth-round rookie Josh Hayes is competing for the job and is also being cross-trained at nickel and outside corner despite playing safety and nickel at Kansas State. Undrafted free-agent Chris Izien is being cross-trained at nickel and safety this offseason. Delaney, 28, appeared in all 17 regular season games in 2022 and had 29 tackles (25 solo) while playing defense and special teams.
