Cubs Not Ruling Out Ben Zobrist's Return This Year
6 years agoChicago Cubs president Theo Epstein said that there's still a chance that infielder/outfielder Ben Zobrist returns to the team before the end of the year. The 38-year-old has been on the restricted list since May 7 while he goes through a divorce with his wife, Julianna. He has been in touch with the team throughout the process and has reached out to his teammates. If Zobrist does return, it would likely be late in the season, potentially in September. His absence has mostly been good news for David Bote and outfielder Kyle Schwarber. Zobrist was hitting .241/.343/.253 with no homers and 10 RBI in 83 at-bats and can be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.
