Cal Quantrill Goes Five Innings In Rehab Start
1 year agoCleveland Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill (shoulder) looked good in a minor-league rehab start for Double-A Akron on Sunday, giving up no runs on three hits while walking one and striking out three in his five innings of work. Quantrill threw 58 pitches in the outing and will likely need one more rehab outing before the Guardians activate him from the injured list since he's been out since June 2. The 28-year-old right-hander should have a spot waiting for him in the team's starting rotation when he's ready, which means one of Tanner Bibee, Logan Allen or Gavin Williams could be sent back to the minors soon. Before his injury, Quantrill had gone 2-4 with a 5.61 ERA (4.92 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, 20 walks and 34 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings over 11 starts.
