Baker Mayfield Expected To Start The Rest Of Season
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed that he expects quarterback Baker Mayfield to be the team's starter for the final four games of the season. John Wolford got the start on Thursday night against the Las Vegas Raiders, but Mayfield replaced him after just one offensive series despite being claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday. The 27-year-old wasn't fantastic in his first action with the Rams, but he led the team to an improbable come-from-behind win to energize the organization. He finished 22-for-35 for 230 yards and one touchdown while carrying the ball four times for 10 yards. It was a cool moment for Mayfield in the midst of a tough year. He'll give the Rams offense the most upside with Matthew Stafford's (concussion, neck) season over, but Mayfield will merely be a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues.
