Khalil Herbert is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 7% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Running back Khalil Herbert is on the move at the NFL's November 5 trade deadline, departing the crowded Chicago Bears backfield and joining the Cincinnati Bengals. Behind D'Andre Swift in Chicago, Herbert was sharing time with fellow backups Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer, and his productivity was heavily capped.
Through the first nine weeks of the season, Herbert has seen the field for just 28 offensive snaps, getting eight carries for a paltry 16 yards and one touchdown, and he was a healthy scratch in the last two weeks.
The Bengals acquired him to fill out their depth chart since Zack Moss's (neck) season was in jeopardy due to injury. Herbert should slide right into the No. 2 spot on Cincinnati's depth chart behind Chase Brown. The team's only other healthy running backs are special teamer Trayveon Williams and recent practice squad signee Kendall Milton.
Khalil Herbert should be rostered everywhere considering the massive upside he now has as the backup to Chase Brown
We might even see him have some standalone value as he steps into what was left of Zack Moss’ role
Essentially like rostering Braelon Allen or Ray Davis https://t.co/4BDUq1IIcQ

Brown stepped up in a big way in Week 9 in Moss's absence. Brown will be the Bengals' RB1 moving forward but shouldn't be expected to shoulder the entire load out of the backfield with Herbert joining the team. Between 2021 and 2023, Herbert averaged 4.9 yards per carry for the Bears while handling an average of 121.3 rushing attempts in those seasons.
Add Herbert in 12-team leagues based on his new role but be patient with him. The Bengals play on Thursday in Week 10 so he may need an extra week to adjust to his surroundings.
