Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Jordan Mason, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason returned from injured reserve last week and immediately stepped back into his No. 1 role with 15 carries. He was also targeted twice in the passing game, but he didn't convert either opportunity into a reception. Mason now has an opportunity to handle even more volume going forward, as teammate Aaron Jones Sr. (knee) suffered an injury in Week 7 and didn't practice on Wednesday.
It's too early to tell whether Jones will miss time, but if he does, Mason should handle even more volume on the ground and through the air than before. In such a scenario, he would theoretically increase his snap share from last week's 64% mark to at least 75% in Week 8. He's averaging nearly five yards per carry since the start of the 2023 season, vaulting himself into high-end RB3 or low-end RB2 territory going forward.
Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker earns WR3/flex consideration in Week 8 on the strength of his workload. The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver drew 19 targets in Weeks 6 and 7 after totaling 28 through his first five contests, and he played a season-high 82% of the offensive snaps against the Los Angeles Rams. That game also brought a season-high 12 targets, and he caught five passes for 103 yards and a touchdown, following a 97-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Buffalo Bills.
The three touchdowns he scored in those two games are the lesser story next to that increased involvement. The Raiders trailed 28-6 at halftime, contributing to a pass-heavy approach, and Tucker caught fewer than half his targets, but head coach Klint Kubiak has confirmed that Kirk Cousins will remain the starter against the New York Jets, preserving the quarterback situation behind Tucker's production.
Rachaad White, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders running back Rachaad White is expected to remain the lead back ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Fellow back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) is still on the Injured Reserve, so White should continue seeing a larger role in the backfield.
In Week 6, White carried the ball seven times for 27 yards, but he did most of his damage in the receiving game. White hauled in four of his five targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The 27-year-old is a dual-threat back who could help needy fantasy managers in Week 8. There's probably not a ton of long-term value here with White, but he'll be a decent flex option for this weekend.
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson caught two passes for 26 yards on just three targets in Sunday's 28-25 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and he has drawn only nine targets over his past two games. That has fueled frustration with his involvement in New York's offense, although offensive coordinator Frank Reich acknowledged in Week 7 that the Jets need to involve him earlier.
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic previously reported that New York has no intention of trading Wilson, who signed a four-year, $130 million extension in 2025 that keeps him under contract through 2030. Wilson said Wednesday, according to Rosenblatt, that he will not request a trade despite ongoing speculation about his future, acknowledging he has seen the rumors circulating on social media but is focused on controlling what he can control.
Braelon Allen, New York Jets
New York Jets running back Braelon Allen (ankle) was a full-go in the team's practice on Thursday, according to The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt. Allen looks to be fine for the Week 8 contest on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, while Breece Hall (quadriceps) put in a second straight day of limited practice as he tries to return for the first time since Week 3.
The 22-year-old Allen has been a plug-and-play RB2 for fantasy managers in the last four weeks with Hall sidelined, carrying the football 72 times for 357 yards (5.0 yards per attempt) and one touchdown while catching 11 of his 15 targets as a receiver for 64 yards. In seven games in his third year in the NFL, he has 91 rushing attempts for 418 yards (4.6 yards per carry) and two rushing touchdowns, matching his previous career high from his rookie campaign in 2024. Allen's Week 8 fantasy football value will depend entirely on whether Hall gains clearance to face the Raiders.
