Giancarlo Stanton Crushes Two Homers in Five-RBI Night
Giancarlo Stanton slugged the team to an 8-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. Stanton crushed a pair of two-run homers, both off ace left-hander Trevor Rogers, and racked up five RBI during a 2-for-5 night. His third-inning bomb to left-center field came off the bat at 112.2 mph and traveled 451 feet. Remarkably, entering Friday, Rogers had only given up three HRs in his prior 17 starts this season. Stanton nearly equaled that total in one night, and with 452 homers, he's now tied with Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski for 40th on the all-time list. During a renaissance season, the 35-year-old has slashed .267/.342/.584 with 23 long balls, 64 RBI, and 35 runs scored in 74 games and 273 trips to the plate.
