Derek Hill Designated for Assignment
Derek Hill (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and designated him for assignment. His roster spot will go to outfielder Griffin Conine (shoulder), who's back from the 60-day IL. Hill has dealt with multiple injuries this year, most recently a strained right hamstring he suffered on Sept. 1. He appeared in 53 of the Marlins' games this season and batted an uninspiring .213/.275/.331 with three homers, 10 RBI, 19 runs scored, and seven steals in 141 trips to the plate. If the light-hitting 29-year-old goes through waivers unclaimed, he could elect free agency and try to catch on elsewhere.
