The first two weeks of the season have been tough for Denver's passing game and fantasy managers alike. There was much hype around Sean Payton's offense, bringing in Evan Engram to add life to the TE position.
So far, the TE expected to be "Joker" hasn't done much, and managers are wondering if the joke is on them. Opportunities have been limited for the veteran, resulting in a lack of production.

Should I Drop Evan Engram in Fantasy Football?
Through two weeks, Engram's numbers are disappointing, with just six targets and four catches for 33 yards. He's averaging 3.7 PPR points per game, with 7.3 total on the season.
Engram sits at TE39, behind names like Luke Farrell, Jeremy Ruckert, Elijah Higgins, and Theo Johnson. That's a brutal drop for someone who was drafted to be a starter in many leagues.

Snap counts are a huge red flag to start the season. In Week 1, Engram saw just 34% of snaps before a calf injury sidelined him. The following week, he played 43% while Adam Trautman led Broncos TEs with 62%. Oh, and Trautman tacked on a touchdown in that game (to mess with fantasy managers, I'm sure). Until Engram sees an increase in snap share, he's not someone you can comfortably start.
His season has been disappointing, but the disappointment has carried over from 2024. Last year, Engram had one of the worst campaigns of his career, bringing in 47 passes for 365 yards and one touchdown over nine games. He was lost for the season when a torn labrum took him out.

Now, in his ninth season, he's continuing to trend in the wrong direction. The consistency we were relying on is no longer there, leaving only a handful of short catches and little upside. At this point, you can confidently drop the tight end. If you want to hold him for one more week, that's your call, but his days of being a top TE are in the rearview mirror.
Who Should I Pick up for Fantasy Football?
One of the stronger tight end options available on waivers is Juwan Johnson. He's been a bright spot for the Saints, scoring at least 15.6 PPR points in each of his first two matchups.

In the Week 2 loss to the 49ers, he hauled in 5-of-9 targets for 49 yards and a score. That performance followed an eight-catch, 76-yard game in Week 1. He's rostered in 51% of Sleeper leagues and is currently the TE2 overall in PPR leagues. If you missed out on him last week, now's your chance to pounce.
Another reliable option is Washington's Zach Ertz. The vet is rostered in 53% of Sleeper leagues while sitting as the TE3 overall. In his second contest of the season, Ertz caught six balls on eight targets for 64 yards and one score.

Across the first two weeks, the 34-year-old has posted nine catches on 13 targets, registering 90 yards and two touchdowns. Ertz is posting a steady target share, which makes him one of the safest options available on waivers.
For those searching for a deeper option worth monitoring, Ja'Tavion Sanders is your guy. In Week 2, facing the Cardinals, he tied for the second-most targets on the team. Additionally, he picked up seven receptions for 54 yards on nine targets (12.4 PPR points). Tommy Tremble is still in the picture, which makes Sanders a boom-or-bust pick for the time being.
