Tampa Bay Rays first base prospect Xavier Isaac (elbow) has been put on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Montgomery with a "nagging" elbow injury. It will be the second IL stint of the season for Tampa's third-ranked prospect, and he also missed time in May which did not result in an IL stint. Perhaps the injuries could help explain some of his struggles this season, as the 6-foot-3 slugger is hitting a paltry .201 through 41 games. However, he's still been able to draw walks at a strong 19.4 percent rate, providing a .366 OBP, and together with his strong .446 SLG, the left-handed hitter is still posting a solid .812 OPS. Hopefully some time off will help him get back on track, but he'll need to improve upon the 29.7 percent strikeout rate if he's going to see some time at Triple-A by the end of the year.--Jarod Rupp
