The Washington Commanders declined defensive end Chase Young's fifth-year option for $17.5 million this offseason. Young looked the part of a second overall pick in his 2020 rookie season (7.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles), but he's had 1.5 sacks in 12 games since due to injuries. The Commanders could consider him a sunk cost and trade him now, but none of their replacements offer anything close to Young's ceiling. The 24-year-old pass-rusher is confident in his surgically repaired right knee this offseason, and head coach Ron Rivera is banking on motivation pushing Young to new heights in 2023 after teammate Daron Payne turned an 11.5-sack season into a new deal. Young probably won't be drafted in IDP fantasy leagues, but he might be a popular in-season pickup if he returns to his rookie form early in the year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
