Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 9: Top Free Agent Adds Include Kadarius Toney, Rondale Moore, Garrett Wilson, Terrace Marshall Jr.

Darius Slayton - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

If you're going to make a playoff push in fantasy, it's time to make that push now. And you might need some new wide receivers to make that push, right? Then you're in luck! Below, you'll find some wide receivers that you should be targeting on the fantasy football waiver wire ahead of Week 9.

Not all of these waiver wire options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster.

Be sure to also check out our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 9 for help at all the skill positions. All players on this list here are around 50% rostered or below.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers won two writing awards and received 12 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association. A big congrats to our very own Byron Lindeque (Golf) and Jordan McAbee (NASCAR) for both winning Writer Of The Year awards! Be sure to follow RotoBaller's analysis and advice all year long, and win more. Win More With RotoBaller!

Wide Receivers Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Kadarius Toney, Kansas City Chiefs - 57% rostered

This is the classic "we have to see what he can do" waiver add. Toney was traded from the Giants to the Chiefs this week, where he'll be catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. We haven't seen a ton of Toney over his first season and a half in the league, but what we have seen has been pretty good, including a 10-catch, 189-yard game last season.

Toney could be the best receiver on the Chiefs and an instant must-play. He could also get buried on the depth chart. But the upside means you pretty much have to add him, right?

Garrett Wilson, New York Jets - 47% rostered

The Jets' target distribution in this one was WEIRD. Tyler Conklin led in targets. Michael Carter was second, tied with Garrett Wilson with seven, and then...Denzel Mims? But with Elijah Moore on the team's bad side and Corey Davis out, that's how it all shook out. Wilson caught six passes for 115 yards in the Week 8 contest, showcasing his talent. With Moore phased out, Wilson could really establish himself as the go-to option for Zach Wilson.

Rondale Moore, Arizona Cardinals - 35% rostered

I think I overestimated what kind of a role Robbie Anderson was going to have in Arizona. Through his first two games with the team, Anderson has been targeted four times, and he's caught exactly zero of them. Yikes. Meanwhile, Moore thrived on Sunday, as he was targeted eight times, catching seven passes for 92 yards and a score. Moore has built some rapport with Kyler Murray and is a WR3 play until Marquise Brown returns.

Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts - 41% rostered

In the first game with Sam Ehlinger starting at quarterback, Pierce was second to Michael Pittman Jr. in targets. He caught three passes for a team-high 65 yards. Pittman is the clear No. 1 option here, but Ehlinger is going to probably throw the ball enough for a secondary option to have value, especially since his running backs combined for just two targets in this one. It'll either be Pierce or Parris Campbell, and Pierce has the early lead based on this game.

Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears - 51% rostered

Mooney tied for the team lead in targets with Dante Pettis, as both saw five looks from quarterback Justin Fields. But Mooney had the better day, catching five passes for 70 yards. He's had over 50 receiving yards in five consecutive games now. Fields only threw for 151 yards, but he's throwing the ball better lately and Mooney is his top target, so he should probably be rostered a little more widely because of that.

Wide Receiver Deeper League Waiver Wire Pickups

Terrace Marshall Jr., Carolina Panthers - 1% rostered

Both Marshall and Laviska Shenault Jr. saw higher usage in this game, but I think Marshall is the only one of the two with sustainable fantasy value. For one, Marshall outperformed Shenault, besting him in targets (9-6) and yards (87-26), though Shenault had one more reception than Marshall, 5-4.

But Marshall has had more of a role lately, getting targets in four consecutive games, while Shenault had three targets all season coming into this one. It looks like Marshall is now the No. 2 receiver on a team that no longer has Christian McCaffrey, which to me means that he has appeal as a deep league flex play.

Darius Slayton, New York Giants - 7% rostered

It wouldn't be a stretch to say the Giants have the worst receiving group in the NFL. The No. 1 guy is rookie Wan'Dale Robinson, but Sunday showed us that Robinson still has a low floor, as he finished with two catches for 15 yards. It was veteran Darius Slayton who led the way with five catches for 66 yards.

Slayton's the kind of player who you keep on a dynasty roster year after year because he'll have a good game two or three times per year, and it's possible these last couple of games have been that. But if they aren't, then Slayton might emerge from the bye week as a WR4 play.

Mack Hollins, Las Vegas Raiders - 7% rostered

The Raiders were super banged up for this one, as Darren Waller was out and Hunter Renfrow has been dealing with a hip injury for a while and was held to one catch for six yards. Hollins took advantage, catching seven passes for 64 yards. The Raiders shouldn't be this bad every week, but Hollins has at least shown that he's playable in fantasy if the Raiders are hurt enough for him to have a role.

Kalif Raymond, Detroit Lions - 1% rostered

Raymond has a pair of 75-plus-yard games in a row. It looks like the Lions are going to try to get him the ball down the field, so there's definitely some appeal here. Probably not in PPR leagues because of the lack of targets, but if you need a boom/bust flex in a 16-team league, Raymond has appeal. (Or, more likely, he's someone you might use in DFS)

Demarcus Robinson, Baltimore Ravens - 0% rostered

Rashod Bateman is banged up. Mark Andrews is banged up. And with those two limited during Sunday's game, it was Robinson who led the team in targets with eight, catching six for 64 yards and a touchdown. Robinson's role this season has been very up and down, but it's worth taking note of how big a role he had this week.

Damiere Byrd, Atlanta Falcons - 0% rostered

IDK y'all. Marcus Mariota threw 28 passes this week, his most since Week 1. If Atlanta starts to throw a normal amount of passes, then someone has to catch them, and Byrd saw six of the targets this week, catching three for 67 and a score. I don't really think this is a move you need to make, but he has now caught touchdowns two weeks in a row.
