Points Leagues Rankings: Fantasy Baseball Updates for September Including Tony Gonsolin, Mike Trout, Pete Alonso, Brandon Woodruff

Paul Goldschmidt - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS Picks

Nicklaus Gaut's September updates for points league fantasy baseball rankings. His rest-of-season points and head-to-head (H2H) points rankings for pitchers and hitters.

Hey there RotoBallers, and welcome back to more of our rankings! We're entering the fantasy championship months of the MLB season, and in this article you'll see Nicklaus Gaut's updated 2022 fantasy baseball points league rankings for September. These fantasy baseball rankings are catered specifically for points leagues and head-to-head (H2H) points league formats, and are looking at rest-of-season values from this point going forward.

Chaos can reign over the final months of the season, with playing time shifting according to who has been called for their September cup of coffee and which players have entered, or left, the injured list. And playoff contenders will less patience for slumps to clear up, while teams out of the hunt could shift to any number of options. With playing time and lineup spot often contributing heavily to point values, staying ahead of the curve on the updated state of things is how you can best set yourself up in your fantasy playoffs.

RotoBaller's lead fantasy baseball points analyst Nicklaus Gaut has given you his thoughts on these questions with his revised fantasy baseball rankings. They will be updated every few weeks for the rest of the season, so be sure to check back often. Over at RotoBaller, we take a lot of pride in our in-depth points leagues articles, tools, and analysis. The industry as a whole doesn't put out enough content for points leagues, but we have you covered!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Top 400 Fantasy Baseball Points Rankings - September Update

These rankings are for points and head-to-head points leagues. You can also see our recent updates for 5x5 mixed league roto rankings.

Before we get to the H2H points rankings themselves, let's quickly review points leagues and how they are different than other formats. Typically, points leagues have different league settings and scoring formats than other fantasy baseball leagues. Different MLB stats and categories are assigned different point values, and those can vary by individual league settings. Those different point buckets are then added up over the course of a scoring period or season.

In many cases, hitters who walk more and strikeout less are preferred for points leagues. Also, many league formats tend to give more weight to pitchers than normal as they can easily accrue points through categories like Innings Pitched. These are the general frameworks that we use for our points league rankings below, and explain why they look different than more standard 5x5 roto fantasy baseball rankings.
