These consensus staff rankings are put together by Pierre Camus, Phil Clark and Scott Engel, and are very specific to best-ball formats. Players who may be more inconsistent from week-to-week will not lose as much value for their variance. Fantasy Football Best Ball Drafts Overview
Fantasy football best ball leagues are draft-only leagues that automatically take your "best" scoring players each week. So if a player doesn't have a great week, his score likely won't be counted for that week. For each week and each matchup of the fantasy football season, the best combination of players from your roster is used to calculate your score for the week.
You automatically get credit for the highest-scoring players, which is a fun system to ensure you get the max points possible for your team each week. Drafting players who can have big "boom" weeks (even if they have some "bust" weeks) can be difference makers.
Rookies that emerge later in the year, or players that carry high backup value (running back handcuffs), can pay big dividends on draft day if they emerge as significant fantasy contributors throughout the season.
