Tyler Allgeier is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add Only as Handcuff
ROSTERED IN: 47% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier handled 12 carries in his team's 31-26 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8. Despite more than doubling his carry total from Week 7, Allgeier is still a handcuff in a clear backup role. Bijan Robinson is the starter and will handle most of the workload.
Tyler Allgeier rookie season numbers:
• 210 Rush attempts.
• 1035 Rushing yards.
• 64.7 Rush yards per game.
• 4 Total touchdowns.
• 16 Receptions.
• 139 Receiving yards.
• 61 First downs.

He had an excellent rookie season, but the drafting of Robinson essentially destroyed his fantasy value. There's no reason to roster him outside of very deep leagues except as a handcuff to the lead back. He wasn't particularly efficient with his work this week, but that could have been due to the game script.
The third-year pro likely doesn't have a chance to fight for the starting job, either. Atlanta is highly unlikely to change their backfield usage. Through eight weeks, Allgeier has only taken on a big role during the blowout win of the Carolina Panthers in Week 6. If the Falcons aren't dominating in both phases of the game, then No. 5 will run the show.
