Tyler O'Neill Takes Swings Off Tee
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that outfielder Tyler O'Neill (back) took light swings off a tee on Wednesday as he works to restart baseball activities. O'Neill has been on the injured list since May 5 with persistent back pain, but he appears to be making some progress this week. The 27-year-old will surely need at least a handful of minor-league rehab games before the Cardinals deem him ready to rejoin the big-league lineup, but there's a chance that could happen by early June. O'Neill has been a disappointment so far through 92 at-bats in 2023, and he was also benched for lack of hustle. He's currently hitting .228 (21-for-92) with four doubles, two home runs, six RBI and 34 K's in 29 games, but he'll most likely have an everyday role when he's back.
