Still No Update on Jermod McCoy's Return Timeline
Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy (knee) has yet to play in a game this season after suffering a torn ACL early in the offseason. The expectation was that he could return at some point this season, but there remains no clear timeline for his return to action for the Volunteers. "He continues to do more on the football side of it, but don't have an expectation for this Saturday yet," head coach Josh Heupel said. "He continues to do the right things to give him a chance at the end of the year." McCoy is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2024 behind 44 tackles, four interceptions, and nine pass deflections in 13 games. With Tennessee likely out of the College Football Playoff picture, it wouldn't be a surprise if McCoy does not suit up this season. Tennessee should have no issue taking care of New Mexico State in Week 12, but matchups with Florida and Vanderbilt are ahead. The Vols have not won in Gainesville since 2003, and they'll have the chance to ruin Vanderbilt's playoff chances in the final week of the regular season. Having McCoy back could help them accomplish those goals.
