San Francisco Giants closer Randy Rodriguez (arm) was unavailable to pitch on Sunday because of soreness in his right arm, manager Bob Melvin said. The issue began after Rodriguez took the loss against the Milwaukee Brewers onread more...

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn (knee) will undergo an MRI on his sore left knee on Monday, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Winn said that a previous MRI in July revealed "a little something," but he received an injection during the All-Star break and has continued to play through the issue. While the 23-year-old would like to finish the season before potentially undergoing arthroscopic surgery, the Cardinals should have a better idea of his status on Monday. Winn missed the Cardinals' 7-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday and has slumped to a .200/.259/.320 line over 19 games and 81 plate appearances in August. Across 486 trips to the plate this year, the defensive wiz has hit .258/.314/.378 with nine homers, 46 RBI, 66 runs scored, and nine stolen bases.--Connor ByrneSource: John Denton - MLB.com

Boston Red Sox left-handed reliever Brennan Bernardino will open Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Righty Walker Buehler had been in line to start until the Red Sox demoted him from the rotation to the bullpen earlier this week. Bernardino, who's riding a 12-appearance scoreless streak, has notched a 2.93 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and 38:22 K:BB in 46 innings this season. He hasn't thrown more than 2 1/3 frames in any of his 49 appearances, so Monday's outing will be a short one. The Red Sox will likely turn to righty Richard Fitts as a bulk reliever after Bernardino exits, according to Tim Healey of the Boston Globe.--Connor ByrneSource: Tim Healey - Boston Globe

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez was dominant in Sunday's 3-2 win against the Nationals, tossing seven shutout innings while striking out 11. He only allowed three hits and walked one, and the victory brings his win total to 10 on the season. This was the second straight start in which he achieved double-digit strikeouts, and this outing in particular marked his career high in the stat. After having a breakout year in 2024, the lefty has been even better in 2025, posting a 3.07 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 126 innings. His next start is scheduled to be on Friday against the division rival Braves.--Jeremy HeistSource: MLB.com

Athletics starting pitcher Jacob Lopez (forearm) got lit up for nine runs in two innings in Sunday's 11-4 loss to the Mariners, and it was later revealed that he was dealing with left forearm tightness, reports Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. The issue apparently dates back to his previous start on Tuesday, where he also experienced soreness following the game. Forearm soreness is a scary thing to hear when discussing starting pitchers, as it's usually the precursor to Tommy John, although Lopez said this feels different than when he needed the surgery previously in his career. Expect updates on the severity of the injury to be released in the upcoming days, but any type of injured list stint could potentially jeopardize the rest of 2025 for the youngster.--Jeremy HeistSource: Martin Gallegos

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Taillon (groin) left Sunday's 4-3 win over the Angels after five innings with left groin tightness, reports Patrick Mooney of The Athletic. He cruised through the first five frames, allowing one run on three hits while only needing 62 pitches. Cubs manager Craig Counsell said after the game that it was a precautionary move, so there is still a chance that he's ready for his next start. This was the 33-year-old's second start since missing a month and a half with a calf strain, so it makes sense that the Cubs may be a bit more cautious with him. He'll carry a 4.15 ERA into his next start, which would be against the Rockies on Saturday if he doesn't miss any time with the groin issue.--Jeremy HeistSource: Patrick Mooney

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Sunday's 11-4 win over the Athletics, cementing himself in the history books in the process. The homers marked his 48th and 49th of the season, which tied and then broke the previous record for most home runs in a single season by a catcher. The former record holder was Salvador Perez, who accomplished the feat in 2021. Raleigh truly is having a historic season for a backstop, slashing .247/.353/.593 with 49 home runs, 106 RBI, 85 runs, and 14 stolen bases with still over a month left to add to his totals.--Jeremy HeistSource: MLB.com

Minnesota Twins outfielder Walker Jenkins has been promoted to Triple-A St. Paul, reports Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. The top prospect is ranked 14th overall by MLB.com for good reason, as he has slashed .304/.426/.477 with eight home runs and 13 stolen bases in 60 minor league games this season. The 20-year-old unfortunately missed a large chunk of the season due to a left ankle injury, but it's encouraging to see him still reach the top level of the minor leagues. He'll have the chance to make his major league debut in 2026 as one of the most highly regarded prospects in the sport.--Jeremy HeistSource: Aaron Gleeman

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Trevor Rogers was once again excellent on the mound during Sunday's start against the Houston Astros. Rogers has been unbelievable on the mound and the Astros had no answers for him on Sunday. He tossed seven innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out a season-high nine batters. Rogers has allowed one run or less in six straight outings. He'll take an outstanding 1.40 ERA across 13 starts into his next outing against the San Francisco Giants. If available, fantasy managers should scoop up Rogers ahead of his next start.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

New York Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox. Goldschmidt will head to the bench for the third time in the last five games. It's not shocking Goldschmidt is sitting here against a right-handed starting pitcher. The veteran slugger is slashing .237/.279/.323 with three home runs and 26 RBI against right-handers this season. Ben Rice will take over first base and bat third versus right-hander Dustin May on Sunday.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Boston Red Sox first baseman Nathaniel Lowe is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Yankees. Lowe has been excellent with his new team, but he'll take a seat here against left-hander Carlos Rodon. Over his first four games, Lowe is 5-for-14 with a homer, five RBI, and two walks with the Red Sox. He figures to be the primary option at first base against right-handed pitching. Romy Gonzalez will take over first base and bat leadoff against Rodon. Lowe isn't an elite fantasy option, but is at least worth snagging in deep leagues.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Merrill Kelly was excellent on the mound during Sunday's outing against the Cleveland Guardians. Kelly came into this game riding a hot stretch on the mound and it continued on Sunday. The right-hander tossed seven shutout innings, allowing four hits while striking out eight batters in the win. Kelly has been outstanding in the second half of the season. He has allowed two runs or less in eight of his last nine starts. Kelly is lined up for a favorable start against the Athletics next weekend. The veteran right-hander should be rostered and started in most fantasy formats right now.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) remained out of the starting lineup for the fifth straight game on Sunday. Guerrero hasn't started in a game since being pulled from Monday's game due to hamstring inflammation. The good news is that Guerrero was able to come off the bench as a pinch-hitter on Sunday. He popped out with two runners on during his lone plate appearance in the eighth inning. The fact he was able to come off the bench means that Guerrero should be nearing a return to the lineup. Fantasy managers should expect Guerrero back in the starting lineup early next week.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

The Seattle Mariners have released infielder/outfielder Dylan Moore after he cleared unconditional waivers, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports. The Mariners designated Moore for assignment on Sunday, and nobody was willing to take the remainder of his $3.58 million salary on waivers, so now they'll move on entirely. The versatile 33-year-old, who had been the Mariners' longest-tenured player before they cut him, will search for a bench role elsewhere. Moore has taken 213 trips to the plate this year and hit .193/.263/.359 with nine homers, 19 RBI, 29 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases. He owns a more effective career line of .205/.310/.381 with 61 HRs and 116 steals across 1,892 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: Ryan Divish - Seattle Times
